Hello, My Visa was denied in September and I am in the process of getting another Visa appointment, the purpose of my post though is to request advice in preparation for the upcoming interview.

My Sister is in the same school I intend to go to for my master's, but when I started my process, she was working, which was what I filled in my DS-160. I put her as my main sponsor on my I-20. She did her undergrad in the US.

I did not mention her master's to the VO. Could this be the cause of the denial and can I do without mentioning it?

Is there an issue if the start date on my DS-160 does not match the start date on my DS-2019(this is like form I-20 for j1 visa).

My program sponsor wants to adjust my start date because visa interview availability is too far (July 30th 2025)
I have submitted my DS-160 so I can’t make changes to the start date I filled in.

Just mention it to the visa officer , its not an issue. Say it before she brings its up. I made a little mistake on my ds160 and I did not notice until the visa officer brought it up and I told her it was a mistake and she said she will update it for me.

Please my abuja people, have any of you gotten your emergency interview request approved this week. If yes, how soon and did you do anything extra? Because I applied since Thursday and nothing yet.

Thank Goodness for getting past the pre approval stage. That 16th date eh, when you click it sef, it will show slot is already used.

I don’t know about selecting dates from a different embassy Sha. But I saw that the embassy recently posted on their socials that they know the current issues and are working to make appointment dates available.

My best bet is that the whole process is more manual than we think and just maybe, the election has a role to play in the delay.

My own is that we will get to the end of the tunnel. I also want to encourage every applicant with similar issues (or experience) to contribute, also try and complain to the appropriate channels, so they can be aware. Because the cost (visa, SEVIS, other fees) no be beans, so the least the embassy can do is to give applicants favorable dates (even if they want to deny anybody).

These US V.O's are just wicked. Sharing refusals like water today. How would you say you can't believe that a Company in Nigeria would want to sponsor a student VISA because of the unstable FX.

Why do you find this difficult to believe? Do you know what it means for a company to sponsor a student for two years (at an average of $30k per year)? In recent times, that is about N100million. I find it hard to believe let alone a visa officer. It is a different thing if it is a scholarship and the reputation of the company offering such would be reviewed particularly, if it is an indigenous company.

Truth is the government isn't making things better for us and unfortunately, we as a people are not making it easier for ourselves too.

I don't think so however, I will suggest you take out "unpaid".

Hello, is anyone getting this problem? My old account got migrated and I was able to access the calenda to reshedule the previously cancelled appointment but it is showing this anytime I select a date and post.

Were you able to select the date ? i got August dates and once i selct the dates, it is not loading.

That of my son got approved today too. About five hours after we sent the mail this morning. I have been trying to trace the person that gave that advice to say thank you. Awaiting approval for Expedited action.

I had a passport drop off date in August on the old platform but it was cancelled due to the migration process. Now I have an option to reschedule in this new platform but it is showing that error
