I don't understand US type of voting. I read about electoral votes on CNN but don't know what it's all about. I hope Trump is winning?

State are allocated point based on revenue and GDP they bring in. Let say a state like Lagos brings in a lot to Nigeria, they are allocated 50 point and a state like Kogi (sorry if it hurt) brings less are allocated 5 point.

That means the political party that wins Lagos gets 50 point while a party that wins Kogi gets 5 point. They sum all the points together and whoever have the highest wins all.

Those 50 points in Lagos will be divided by local govt so let say Lagos has 25 local govt, that's like 2 each per local govt. Who ever wins the popular vote in a local government, the electoral college drops 2 point for winner. You get.

So you can win by popular vote but still lose by electoral college.


As of now Trump is leading, but it's US election, any State can flip.
