She was trash talking Nigeria as a hellhole she grew up in where there were robberies every night. That is why people want the house negress' downfall.

But these guys have been instrumental to the victories of both governors and presidents. I haven't seen anyone condemn that.

When we see fat figures of voters in the north, do you ever think these children are part of it? I remember DonJ raising this issue last year, and Oasis countered it by posting underage voters from the South.

Abeg, make una leave this matter

But as a British, she should put her country first.

just the Conservative Party in UK. You see Nigerians in UK telling you how UK is a land of opportunities, ask you to show a high ranking black man in Chinese ruling party.
The truth is they give this black immigrants appointment/opportunity to appeal to certain voters/demography. These appointees or elected office holders are mere figurehead who must abide by the establishment foreign policy.
Obama was president of the US when NAFO destroyed Libya, turning the Sahel region into a terrorist haven. American defense companies selling weaponry to different factions in the region.

These are some of her quotes

“Growing up in Nigeria I saw real poverty – I experienced it, including living without electricity and doing my homework by candlelight, because the state electricity board could not provide power, and fetching water in heavy, rusty buckets from a borehole a mile away, because the nationalised water company could not get water out of the taps,” she told the chamber. “Unlike many colleagues born since 1980, I was unlucky enough to live under socialist policies.”
“doing my homework by candlelight, because the state electricity board could not provide power, and fetching water in heavy, rusty buckets from a bore-hole a mile away, because the nationalised water company could not get water out of the taps.”
“This is my country…I don’t want it to become like the place I ran away from. I want it to get better and better, not just for me, but for that next generation,” she said.
The fact that colonialism happened does not mean that our modern history is tainted by it.
This woman grew up upper middle class. When you write your college admission essay, that's when you throw in all this pepper and spice to gba the oyibos.
I am sure Ibime wrote about how he walked through oil spill to get to school. tongue

But in politicking This is what is known as cooning.

Cooning" is when a self-hating African-American plays the fool for a White audience in exchange for the limited social acceptance the latter are willing to give within their racial hierarchy. Black people who act this way are referred to as "coons" by other disgusted Blacks, who view the behavior as treacherous in nature.
Rishi Sunak is also Indian, but you don't hear him knocking India for political capital with conservatives

So the issue is her knocking Nigeria, and not because she is lying...I mean people experienced and are still experiencing what she said.

Similar to how Monerozi was mad at Obi for calling the North "poor", not because they aren't poor, but because he said it

And by the way, Rishi was born in the UK. Did it occur to you that he may not have a slightest idea of the struggles of an Indian, in India?

You have been away. My arguments on this matter were that it is an opportunity to shutdown underage voting and start a real conversation about almajiri and it's real purpose which is as political tool/cudgel.

You live in lagos. But you are from anambra (I think) . So if you are running for a political post in lagos will you curry favor by saying thank god I am in lagos, anambra is a dirty shithole where they eat people, kidnap people, and everyone is poor?

And by the way, Rishi was born in the UK. Did it occur you that he may not have a slightest idea of the struggles of an Indian, in India?
That does not stop rishi from playing the same game. Thank god I was not born in India or I would have been dragging a rickshaw and I would have never gone to school

Oh thank god for the white man who has delivered me from the shithole country! What is the difference between This woman and those people who lie about fgm so they can secure asylum? Or those lagosians who said they were fleeing boko haram?

She is simply a liar who is trying to paint Nigeria as a dystopia so she can climb the conservative social ladder. We'll she has succeeded so maybe the end justifies the means

It has always been a political tool.

I think Nigerians as a people don't know what they want.

I remember when we talked about GEJ's Almajiri school. The same people dragging Northern governors now, said the project was not timely and blah blah blah. Today, Northern governors should do something

I think the point of the whole case was detaining minors, which is true.

The first question is if i want to identify as an Anambra. That's the important question.

The woman does not want to identify as a Nigerian. Why we wan force am?

If i don't want to have anything to do with Anambra, I will call it all sort of names.

Kemi does not want to be called a Nigerian. That's enough proof that she will knock Nigeria again and again

It can't be any more straightforward than this really. I don't know why Nigerian's are expecting some sorta gumbody from her...her responsibility and loyalty is to the British people, anything short of that is irresponsible, especially given the sort of position she occupies.

I just tire.

The gumbody is just too much. What business does Abike have reaching out to her?

At what point did she accept part of her as wanting Nigeria, to even make us think she identifies with us?

It is political theatre. She is saying it because that is what they want to hear. And because that is what she needs to say so she can belong. Nigerians are corrupt, thieves but not kemi - she is one of the good ones!

Or to put it another way - that Izzou na correct guy. He no be like those omoibo wey dey misbehave. He sef go tell you. Nothing dey that anambra. Dem all dey shit for road. All of them na thief. He talk am say thank god he day lasgidi and not in that dorty anambla.

"environmental disaster is the backdrop to this modern dystopia"
Nigeria is a difficult place to live - but it is not the place madam kemi is making it out to be for political clout. It definetely was not like that for her.

You can take any number of your experiences and package them as a story of living in a nightmare.

Chief l am very close in age to madam Badenoch and I grew up middle class.

The time she claims she was reading by candle we had those red flourscent torch

People already had boreholes and wells in their houses. No one was going one kilometer with a rusty bucket. At the worst you buy water from aboki and store in your house.

The kindest thing I can say is she is appropriating the experiences of the actual poor to score political brownie points

It is now that we are older we realize our parents were struggling but still got stuff done.

We went through all of this and did not see ourselves as suffering. It is if we want to form hard man to oyibo during dinner convos we will make some about how we walked 5 miles to go to school
