That was what he did in the Cement industry and now we are paying through our nose.

He wants to do the same in the oil industry. He no go work.

If you don't want importation, reduce your pms price and see how importation will die naturally.
No Sir. The man did no wrong in the cement industry. Did he stop other producers from selling low? Did he stop other people from setting up cemetery factories?

Let others build their refinery. Let the state refineries work. Importation denies us industrialization and imports unemployment. The importers make quick money and use the opportunity to divert our scarce forex.

All these importers why have they not formed a cartel and build refineries all these years? We can now see the reasons why the state refineries have not worked. They killed it. They don't want it to work.

Dangote has never done anything for the common man ...since his refinery opened fuel have become more costly than before...he should open fuel stations and sell his fuel by himself.. monopolistic man

Dangote is an economic monster that needs to be checkmated before he gets totally out of control!

He now speaks as though it's a government unto himself and issuing directives to citizens?

Tinubu: call this greedy bloodsucker to order now.

But the last time I checked, Dangote is also importing crude. Does it mean the crude in the country is not sufficient for him? And if he want marketers to desist from importation, let his price speak for it. Empty vessels of our country. So noisy.
Re: We Support Competition But Won’t Allow Continued Petrol Import –Dangote Refinery by obaidan: 2:01pm On Nov 07, 2024
Someone that reduced price of cement below production cost, competitors then found it hard to survive then stopped production, buyers had him as d only option, then he increased price again. Na dat one dey advice una.

I don't know that this Man can be this useless, by his refinery coming on board, PMS should be around #400, let me see who wants to import PMS again but, he wants to be ELON MUSK, THE WORLD RICHEST MAN. NONSENSE.

Re: We Support Competition But Won’t Allow Continued Petrol Import –Dangote Refinery by Ejonginfo: 6:15pm On Nov 07, 2024
Dangote is the one increasing the suffering of Nigerians.
Did he said he encouraged competition? Is it a healthy one at that, sir if I may asked?
Did he also said importation of PMS should stopped in Nigeria?
Another question,
Does it mean he Dangote doesn't know what to do? If no, may I tell him Dangote that he doesn't have to say anything. Simply reduce to cost of PMS, and whether there will be an issue on fuel imported into Nigeria
After all crude is sole to you in naira with little or without tax, what our country has not done 3% of us.

If only Nigerians can just agree to stop buying just one of Dangote's product for just 30 days then he would know he is in for business.
But I guess we will all just rant and rant and will continue in the vicious cycle of nonsense and absurdity.

Lol. Dangote talks about everything except the cost of its fuel. Consumer is free to buy from wherever he or she wants. Your product is out of reach. Imported fuel is the only competitive product now. No to monopoly. You cant force Nigerians to buy your very expensive product when there is a cheaper alternative. Why should your fuel be more expensive than the ones from europe?
Take your fuel to europe to sell

TheBillyonaire:
I agree completely with your assertion. Mrs. Dangote's pricing model is disappointing. A refinery is a generational investment, given that he might be owing some loans, he should renegotiate his credit lines repayment and drop down the price of the products. That way he can actually encourage higher marginal sales.

I think he might need help in Sales strategies, over the years Aliko has been operating on common-sense strategies which are really counter intuitive. He has opportunity to own the Africa's market but his price engineering and crude profiteering strategies is somewhat archaic.
Thank you for your insightful commentary. The core issue here revolves around the foreign exchange (FX) rate. As rates increase, it becomes more expensive to pay down and service dollar-denominated loans. This situation suggests that he is not generating enough FX from export sales, which forces him to maintain higher selling prices. This may explain his request for a special rate from the federal government, potentially at the expense of Nigerians.

However, I believe he needs to consider the bigger picture. A reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) could lead to greater stability in the FX rate. With the upcoming Electronic Foreign Exchange Matching system, we can expect rates to decrease as all FX transactions become more transparent, similar to the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).

I also agree with the federal government's somewhat detached approach; allowing market participants to navigate these challenges independently may be beneficial. As long as Kudi is involved, PMS importers and Dangote are likely to find common ground through either intense competition or dialogue, ultimately benefiting the public in the medium to long term.

at least he is honest about making profit. What about those who work for government but have hijacked the system for personal gains?

Ebeano49:
Here's the big picture: Many refineries in Europe are about to go out of business because of Dangote. These refineries are willing to undercut Dangote on price even if it means selling at a loss for a few years. They will then revert to high prices when Dangote has been frustrated out of refining.

That's exactly what Ethiopian Air planned to do to Nigerian airlines.

Let's not celebrate or castigate Dangote yet
Omo if this refinery was owned by Tinubu or anyone else we wouldn't castigate

But not this Dangote that has over decades been NOTORIOUS
for Monopoly

If there is no importation ,how can competition happens?

Then, they should be the better side of the competition.

Else, they won't tell marketers where to buy from.
