forgiveness:No Sir. The man did no wrong in the cement industry. Did he stop other producers from selling low? Did he stop other people from setting up cemetery factories? Let others build their refinery. Let the state refineries work. Importation denies us industrialization and imports unemployment. The importers make quick money and use the opportunity to divert our scarce forex. All these importers why have they not formed a cartel and build refineries all these years? We can now see the reasons why the state refineries have not worked. They killed it. They don't want it to work. |

But the last time I checked, Dangote is also importing crude. Does it mean the crude in the country is not sufficient for him? And if he want marketers to desist from importation, let his price speak for it. Empty vessels of our country. So noisy. |

Dangote is the one increasing the suffering of Nigerians. Did he said he encouraged competition? Is it a healthy one at that, sir if I may asked? Did he also said importation of PMS should stopped in Nigeria? Another question, Does it mean he Dangote doesn't know what to do? If no, may I tell him Dangote that he doesn't have to say anything. Simply reduce to cost of PMS, and whether there will be an issue on fuel imported into Nigeria After all crude is sole to you in naira with little or without tax, what our country has not done 3% of us. |

Lol. Dangote talks about everything except the cost of its fuel. Consumer is free to buy from wherever he or she wants. Your product is out of reach. Imported fuel is the only competitive product now. No to monopoly. You cant force Nigerians to buy your very expensive product when there is a cheaper alternative. Why should your fuel be more expensive than the ones from europe? Take your fuel to europe to sell |

TheBillyonaire:Thank you for your insightful commentary. The core issue here revolves around the foreign exchange (FX) rate. As rates increase, it becomes more expensive to pay down and service dollar-denominated loans. This situation suggests that he is not generating enough FX from export sales, which forces him to maintain higher selling prices. This may explain his request for a special rate from the federal government, potentially at the expense of Nigerians. However, I believe he needs to consider the bigger picture. A reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) could lead to greater stability in the FX rate. With the upcoming Electronic Foreign Exchange Matching system, we can expect rates to decrease as all FX transactions become more transparent, similar to the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX). I also agree with the federal government's somewhat detached approach; allowing market participants to navigate these challenges independently may be beneficial. As long as Kudi is involved, PMS importers and Dangote are likely to find common ground through either intense competition or dialogue, ultimately benefiting the public in the medium to long term. |
