Donaldoni:Try to pay attention, please! ![]() The teacher shouldn't punish the student. It is rather the parents who decide what punishment the students should get and when. Not the teacher who can only penalize the kids for wrongdoing. ![]() |

Myrrhis:I know, but very few. Just put up a post and see the reaction from these people. A harmless post. Some will insult u down to your grandparents. They will start bringing tribalism into it. It's so annoying bro |

Overmars36:You are in your feelings. I have not insulted him but given him an honest appraisal of his personality as observed from his exchange under this post. He could thrive in a different school under a different managerial style; he's just not a culture fit for this one. If he wants to stay, he needs to make some adjustments. But here you can see he is not open to receiving any opinion that isn't his. |

Allotrope69:..the school owner the proprietor pamper the students because they want to show case to other parents out there that they take good care of students and children in this school and treat them nicely so as a way of convincing parents out there that the school takes good care of students and a way of attracting more students to enroll in the school because the more students comes to enroll in the school the more money and funds the school make in school fees and other charges...and if the students are not treated nicely and not pampered some of the parents can withdraw their children out from the school and enroll them in another school that pampers students and treat them nicely..so the owner of the school the proprietor will not want that to happen |

Allotrope69:Oga leave the school. Where I once teach I flog a student for over bad behavior the father came the second day begin fight me . |
| Re: Why Are Private Schools Like This? by Kobojunkie: 11:42pm On Nov 08, 2024 |
Trophy12:If the father never agreed that you could ASSAULT his child— I believe many states are already declaring assault of that kind a crime at this point— then you are in the wrong for doing that. If that man had filed assault charges against you with the police, not even the principal of that school would have been able to help you. ![]() |

Allotrope69:There are other more serious punishment than flogging. How about suspension for a week or two which will reflect in his term results and a meeting or call to the parents as to why their child has been suspended. There are ways about this. Humans are corrected better without flogging like an animal which in time will be nothing because they have built resistance to it |

I was Sad when I read what proprietress utter to you<(How can a Proprietoress who was once a teacher in someone's sch boldly tell her staff that their Future end here in her sch, and that the students are now the future. And that the children will be more successful than the teachers?) Working under someone is a disaster in Nigeria |

I was once in your shoe bro, until I became a rebel leader in the school after winning every student and teachers to my side. But God later picked my call and everything is now history. Endure for a while and catch your opportunity when it comes knocking. |

I could remember during my service year then I was posted to a secondary school,I just went to the school principal and told him to reject me but he refused. Then I told him if he doesn't want trouble he should better reject me cos the School won't contain the both of us ,so after much persuasion he rejected me and as God may have it Nigerian Geological survey Agency requested for my service. Op I pray God will give you a better environment that will suite your profession and passion. Please if life blesses you with your own school tomorrow, keep this same standard of yours and treat your staffs better.... better days ahead |

| Re: Why Are Private Schools Like This? by Kobojunkie: 12:00am On Nov 09, 2024 |
Donaldoni:I send children to school every morning here. I don't send them there to be punished by their teachers but rather for the teachers to train them. When kids do something wrong at school, the school may penalize them but the parents are responsible for doling out punishment they feel is most appropriate for the kids. That is one of the reasons why the school calls home immediately to report the situation to the parents. Rather than take it into their hands to decide for themselves. ![]() If you still can't seem to comprehend what I have been saying all this while, then I am afraid I can't help you at all. ![]() |

@Allotrope69 from an ex teacher to you I have experienced everything you are going through and more. I have taught from primary school to tertiary level. I still gladly teach or volunteer to do so when the opportunity arises but never in the formal private school setting. I have seen shege. From Finisher's where they wanted to finish us to Unique where they were uniquely wicked. I have seen management try to set up teachers against each other. Should I talk about the overwork or the withholding of salaries, over pampering of kids or the worship of parents? The last straw for me was a matter that I had no clue about, but yet got a query for. As soon as I was cleared of all wrongdoing, I simply quit and left two months of salary with them in November of 2018. I do very okay for myself as a Social Media Manager, Content Creator, YouTuber and Virtual Assistant. Also, you should note when someone who has never taught before is speaking and learn to ignore them so that they'll wilt. Nairaland is a toxic hovel. There's many frustrated people who lack contact from other humans and are looking to take out their frustrations on you. They are only here to harass you. Ignore them. If you can, pick up something else as someone has advised and start making your moves or in 10 years you'll hate yourself. Time moves quickly. Cheers 🥂 |

Op, I have not read the rest of your story, but on the part of you telling the child to round the teachers and collect his scripts is totally wrong. The proprietress is right on that. A pupil is not the one that will go round and collect his scripts, more so, a poor performing pupil. What if collects them and alter them? Or even burn them completely? Even in universities, u sit for courses that are across several departments and faculties, u dont go to anyone to collect your script and submit to your department. When results come out, just go to department's board and check your scores. |
