Verydarkman & Deji Adeyanju Lead Wike Must Go Protest Over Demolition Of Houses In Abuja

Thousands of residents in Abuja have been displaced as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration continues large-scale demolitions targeting low-income communities.

On Friday, activists and community leaders, including social media influencer Martin Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkman, and Barrister Deji Adeyanju, led a protest at the Ruga settlement near the Abuja city gate.

The demolitions have reportedly affected over 15,000 residents in Ruga alone, with authorities burning properties in certain areas post-demolition.

Residents, some of whom have lived in the affected communities for nearly four decades, carried placards reading ‘Stop Demolition,’ ‘Wike Must Go,’ and ‘Stop Demolishing Poor People’s Houses to Give to Your Friends.’

Protesters decried the lack of affordable housing and the perceived favoritism toward wealthy interests, calling on President Tinubu to protect their rights and prevent further displacement.

Speaking during the demonstration, Adeyanju expressed dismay at what he described as a brazen and unrelenting seizure of land from the poor, warning that displacing low-income residents to favor wealthier interests could exacerbate insecurity across Abuja.

Mr. Deji Adeyanju is getting it wrong, he and his co-travellers shouldn't be attacking Wike for cleansing the FCT, it is part of his duty to do so as FCT Minister.. instead, they should channel their criticism to the State Governors in those insecurity ravaged States up North for failing in their responsibilities to keep their States safe.

There was a time insecurity was becoming terrible in the FCT due to those makeshift structures and camps those bandits and criminals use as hideout.. those young boys you see move around at night in Abuja with dangerous weapons to rob innocent residents of their valuables. The issue is somewhat delicate.

The day H. E Wike earned my respect was when a notorious bandit terrorizing the Bwari area of FCT got captured by the Police after Wike placed bounty on his head.. that is to show that if Nigeria really wants insecurity to be a thing of the past, it will be achieved, these bastards wrecking havoc all over the place are not spirits, they just need someone ruthless to treat their fvckup squarely.

They should take their protest to the palace of the Oba of Ruga. That's where the real problem lies.

Wike and tinibu are really very heartless politicians why not first arrange for somewhere to keep these people before going ahead to destroy the community? I don't even think wike knows the kind of insecurity he is inviting to abuja with this huge number of displaced and homeless people.

Deji and co should go and sit down. Those planks are no houses and people should not be encouraged to even live in them for years. Having such things in Abuja the is an eyesore.
I don't understand the reason for the protest. You both have lived in Abuja for years and have been seeing this people, what stopped them from building houses for them .
