If Buhari had wanted him not to win, he would not have. Buhari just allowed a level playing ground. If he was like him that always like to poke his nose all on political matters, he would have refused him to win. Even winning APC primary was the handiwork of northern governors and not even his efforts. If northern governors had accepted the pronouncement made by the announcement of Lawan that would have punctured his ambition. But they stood resolutely by him, especially Nasir El-Rufai. As he was vocal to defend Tinubu candidature then.

Kwankwaso and Atiku shot themselves in the leg when they ganged up against Jonathan in 2015 had they supported Jonathan and he won one of them would have become president in 2019 as Buhari would have given up by then and Nigerians would not have been subjected to this APC terrible administrations and bole kaja economy right now.

Kwakwanso knows his people and knows the north will never vote for Obi. He also knows he cannot win the presidency outside of the 2 main parties. Unlike others promoting the agenda of him running as VP to Obi, including Obi himself, he is smart enough to know that either way he will lose and therefore it is better for his image to run as a presidential candidate in NNPP and lose than run as VP to Obi and lose.
