The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has confirmed three persons dead following an accident involving a Dangote truck (numbered DCG-TM-028) and other vehicles.

DAILY POST learnt the Dangote truck experienced a brake failure while descending from Ita-Opo, Epe, leading to the unfortunate incident.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday by Taofiq Adebayo, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA.

Bakare-Oki noted that the out-of-control vehicle collided with a tricycle (AGL 442 QC) and a stationary Toyota Camry at the Ayeyoro traffic light before veering into the Ayetoro Market Complex in Epe.

“The unfortunate collision resulted in the fatalities of the tricycle driver and two students from Manpower Technical School. The deceased were respectfully transported to the Epe General Hospital mortuary,” he said.

Put stringent licensing rules for drivers of trucks. Let them also only drive when traffic is less at the later hours and early mornings

Such a tragic accident—my heart goes out to the victims' families. Brake failures are always alarming, especially with large trucks on busy roads. I hope LASTMA and other authorities enforce stricter maintenance checks to prevent similar accidents in the future. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may we see improvements in road safety across Lagos.

It is cause of brake failure that I think government should be stringent on those establishing markets along express road.

This is why we pray not to be victims of a failed system of government... Where tankers and truck are not properly monitored on the road, they constantly violate speed limits and traffic rules
