There was a lawyer who couldn't spell 'lawyer' in law school ...he was from the north ...I heard he was removed. Like u read a course for 6 years and don't know the spelling. He was spelling it as loyer

Typical nigerian. Many go Do expo for jamb..bribe lecturer through school if na girls them go sleep them way through university. Then hope to get job at oil company.

How possible it's a PHD student? Maybe he's going through a trauma or depression. Some family issues can trigger such problems.

Like, how did he scale Secondary School, First and Second Degrees without being able to properly write his name? Something he ought to have been able to do from Grade 1 in primary school?

If the problem was teachers and their pay, is it also responsible for a semiliterate person holding a Master's Degree?

Where the entry score in the South into Federal government schools is 180, in the north, it can be 5 or 8!!!

The federal university courses have different aggregate score for admissions. While Southern candidates with 280 score may not enter, someone with 200 will do same course..

There's a problem with the education in this country because of northern education ministers who though "professor" but they bring rubbish policies

Nonsense, teachers qualities must be checked to ensure better education but, when it comes to teachers welfare and salary, qualities are not check...

We can never have brilliant studiends so much in this nation as long as we see teachers are those who begs for a mean of livelihood.

It's possible, going by the craze for certificates/university degrees in the civil service.

I know a federal government agency where a university degree holder who could hardly string a complete sentence is made to takeover administration of the agency in lieu of core professional who had no university degree but Polytechnic Diploma.

My experience at Federal government Press makes me to believe this story.

A very robust Lady with over 30 years working experience as a Core Printer and professional with Higher National Diploma back-up was asked to step aside for a university degree holder who knows next to nothing about printing. Besides,she could hardly string a complete sentence.

The robust Lady with printing experience and Diploma to back it up is discriminated against because she has no university degree! Civil service recognizes only university degrees to gain promotions beyond GL14.

As a result, federal government press is no longer what it's used to be. It's comatose and lacks managerial direction because of the nebulous philosophy of University degree certificate holder to manage the agency without prioritizing professionalism and experience.

It's under Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation. One hopes the Minister, Alh Idris, who is a newspaper publisher and Printer would wade into the agency and sanitize it. The current leadership is bereft of ideas and lacks managerial experience.

So, it's possible to have a PhD holder found wanting because of craze for certificates. What's happening in federal government press typifies the craze for university degree as the barest minimum certificate to occupy the seat as Head of the Agency thus enthroning mediocrity at altar of excellence.

In 2009,when the SS3 student of a close to my school were writing their WAEC and a corper refused to allow them to indulge in exam practices,the corper was withdrawn from the school completely.

The following day,when they were meant to write English,rain fell a night before the Saturday morning, all the students left for farm instead of exam. The principal started going to their houses to call them to write their exams.

All these happened in Kebbi state.
