I always tell people that want to travel this, you are not going there to become an activist or change their existing rules. The moment you want to leave the country you should first tell yourself that you are a guest in another mans land. If you have respect for people and their customs, and you face what you came there to achieve you will do it.
You are not going to Nazi Germany, most of these countries have a good legal system. If you behave well you will be protected... Like my social studies teacher used to say "if you don't have self respect and others. Nobody will respect you" not to talk of your rights.

You may get a life changing opportunity in one of these "shitty" countries....
