Good morning my people.
My W211 is having some issues, car is in limp mode, wouldn't go past the first gear and the gear shift wouldn't return to park while the engine is running. I have to shift to neutral, turn off the engine before the gear shift would get back to park.
Has anyone encountered this? If yes how was it solved?
A friend said to change the gear shift.

I experienced this, when I start the engine and shift to D, it'll stay on P on the dash. Sometimes it acts normal. And sometimes when I shit from D to P it stays at R. So what I do now is start the engine at N, make sure you see the N before starting the engine and then shift to D. It'll take few seconds to turn to D and then you good to go. Put in reverse too and wait few seconds to change to R then accelerate, that's how I run it. W211 too

Thanks bro, mine shifts both on the dash and the lever, the gear however dosent switch as in is limpmode.
Then lever dosent return to P, I will have to take it to neutral, turn off only then can I shift the lever to P.

I haven't, but I don't think oil would affect the gear lever too.

How does one know if it is or not?

I am not a conversant with benz though. But the first thing you should check yourself is if when you press the brake, does the lights come on, some face that issue where the brake sensor isnt making the gear register to shift.

But for me, you have an electrical issue which can point to the problem if you can get a workshop with the right diagnostic machine, they can check continuity in the wires, check the necessary fuses, test the TCM modules to pinpoint your issues. A valve body wont stop the gear from not switching from park or neutral.

get a 3rd opinion and ensure an part replaced is handed to you because i smell foul play

So I finally got car fixed . But it wasn’t cheap either , had to spend over a million naira to get it sorted out . Ouch still hurt , still it was worth every penny, because the car has been running smoothly for over a month now and counting , and no hiccups whatsoever.

Omo I Woke up one morning, car would not move out from park after a jump start. Called multiple mechanics, and they kept saying 'oga change the gear , your gear don go '
Almost lost my mind!
Finally took it to a Mercedes Benz service center, and they were able to pinpointed the issue - faulty VGS!
I change am, and e don dey well for over one month now."

Seriously ehn , if a Mercedes Benz mechanic does not have the Star Diagnostic Tool, they should be charged with automotive malpractice!

The only thing it might not see are maybe transmission,as transmission sensor dey hidden under car,it won't see shock absorbers,brake pads,car stereo,ac,interior lights,brake lights,headlamps, ball joints hubs,linkage,just name it,spark plugs,ac gas,fuel pump,just use your head when dealing with your car.

A Benz will detect all these you mentioned nw,

Guys, I drive E320, 211 engine. Earlier this year I changed the transmission since then the transmission have been leaking fluid till it gets to half of the recommended fluid gauge before the the leakage will stop. I took the car to the mechanic that fixed the transmission, he worked on it and told me that the problem have been solved, just for me to discover that the leakage is still happening, last month I took the car to another mechanic, he removed the fluid in the car and discover that the fluid level have been reduced to half of the recommended guage. He repair the leakage and top up the fluid level, just for me to discover that whenever I am driving the car gear oil will be dropping while on motion. Guys please what could make a car to be dropping gear oil when the car is in motion?. Any idea of a good gear specialist in Abuja that can help me fixed this I will appreciate.

Check cooler lines.probably the hose is disconnected or the wicked mechanic disconnected it that day.when u get home,at night,check everywhere
