Pls I need link to SEF APPLICATION PORTAL
SEF no longer exists. SEF has been shut down by the Portugal government since October 2023. SEF has been replaced by AIMA. All SEF staff have been migrated to AIMA

Hello and thanks for starting this thread!

The Portugal Job Seeker Visa is definitely an exciting option for Nigerians interested in exploring work opportunities abroad. It’s great to see you gathering all the essential steps and resources in one place, especially since this visa is still new and there isn’t much information readily available.

For those interested, this thread will be invaluable for exchanging insights and experiences on each part of the process, from the visa prep checklist to passport renewal, police character certificates, funds required, and even navigating accommodation in Portugal.

I hope this becomes a helpful space for everyone to share their progress and advice. Looking forward to seeing this thread grow and maybe one day meeting in Portugal for that lunch in Lisboa or Porto! Best of luck to everyone embarking on this journey. Let’s go! 🌍

Hello guys
I received a rejection email from the embassy on my D1 national visa and I have 10days to appeal
Please I need suggestion on how to appeal..stated below is the message ticked from the rejection document

( Binding unfavorable opinion of the competent authorities, under the terms and for the purposes of art. 53, no. 6 of Law no. 23/2007, of July 4, in the wording in force, and art. 91, no. 1 of the Code of Administrative Procedure, issued by AIMA on 2024-12-12, in which it is concluded: Request with little credibility, associated with the risk of possible facilitation of CT for entry into PT or Schengen. Migratory risk.)

Please any help on how to appeal would be much appreciated 👏

If you have it, do so

Is it mandatory to submit a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) for a Schengen visa application?
Does not providing a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) affect visa approval?

Good day Chief,
Please let us know how far your application for the job seeker visa to Portugal has gone.
Any updates?

Thank you.

c00la:
As far as I know, authentication is required in every Embassy.

Here is my logic...
You want to get a job in PT
hence... you want to go to PT on a job-seeker visa
hence... you will need to SHOW your qualifications for the job
hence... you will need to SUBMIT your job qualifications in your visa application
To avoid your Visa application being rejected, you need to authenticate your certificate(s) at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Abuja.
At MoFA, if the certificate/credential is related to education (WAEC,NECO, BSC, etc.) they will insist you first go to the Ministry of Education (MoE) to get it authenticated.

Hence,
start at MoE and get the educational certificates authenticated (it will take a day)
then move to MoFA and get the certificates and all others authenticated (another day)

Basically, you pay the FGN/Ministry for each certificate via Remita, then submit copies of the receipt (always two copies) for the certificate authentication. If you have access to a scanner, and can pay through Remita, you can do the groundwork for both MoE and MoFA by yourself and then go and submit. With what I know now, I can do both in 1 day.

There are certain issues you will face but with patience, and money, you will overcome.

What I authenticated in MoE
1. University Certificate
2. WAEC Results

What I authenticated in MoFA
1. University Certificate
2. University Certificate Copy (authenticated)
3. WAEC Results
4. WAEC Results Copy (Authenticated)
5. Court Marriage Certificate
6. Church Marriage Certificate
7. Employment Letter
8. Regularisation Letter
9. Promotion Letter 1
10. Promotion Letter 2
11. Declaration of Age (They said this is not ideal, they prefer Attestation of Age from Nigeria Population Commission if you don't have a birth certificate)

What I have to authenticate later just before submitting my Visa Application (at MoFA)
1. Police Character Certificate
2. Attestation of Age
3. Scanned Bio page of my International Passport

All these for me and the same documents for my wife since we are both applying for the job-seeker visa. For kids, the Birth Certificate.

[quote author=Olayinkaoj post=128276368]Be warned, the jobs available are hotel and restaurant waiters (in summer) , labourers in construction site (all-round the year), farm/garden/fruit pickup (seasonal), but gardening can be all-year round.

Wages are low, €5.20 to €6 per hour in that category. You can make up to €860-€900/month if you work for about 20 days in a month. If you have extra days to work, and you are a labourer in construction, you can earn up to €1,100 or €1,200/month, mostly in summer when you have longer day, and if you work 9 hours/day.

Portugal is not an industrialized country or a warehouse/logistic hub like Germany, and so, don't expect much. Their own children also go to central Europe in search of greener pasture.

Accommodation is scarce but available in location where there's no job. In places where you can find jobs, it's always difficult to find accommodation and it's between €250-€350/room. And this is why Indians, Pakistanis, Bangla, Afghans can be up to 4 people in a room and pay €150/bedspace.

But the good news is, in 5 years, you will obtain your permanent residence card, which would allow you to stay and work in any part of EU, and if your proficiency is high in Portuguese, you can apply for a Portuguese passport immediately after your Permanent Resident card. Your passport is visa-free to Canada, America, UK and almost everywhere. Weigh the options and know that you are not coming to a place where life is that easy. [/quot bro I just send you a pm

I really appreciate it that you are looking out for people. But it's not that bad.
1.You don't need lawyer for Job seeker visa. Maybe those that used the tourist visa do. But for jobseeker visa you don't need a lawyer
2. Once you get a job every other thing is settled.
Although getting a job can be a VERY difficult but if u have a skill and basic knowledge of portugese you are good to go. A friend got a plumbing job in two weeks. I got mine a little later. Some people get jobs some don't. You never know till you try. Everyone has different grace. But trust me the job seeker visa is the best path to getting your residency. If all goes well in less than 6 months you have your card. But like I said getting the job is most important
3. The language. Please and please learn before you come. It makes your lire easier... I wish I did. It would even help get a job speedily
4.please come with enough money to sustain you till you get a job. U don't want to sleep outside o. Come with money. Lol
Please, did you start working immediately you got your Employment Letter and signed it? or did you wait to book a date with SEF/AIMA and after submitting your Employment Letter with SEF/AIMA on the appointment date before you could start working?

Please, how did you solve the issue of return ticket?

(1) I know someone cannot just buy a real ticket when he or she is not certain the visa will be granted; please, what did you submit to the Embassy during your application?

(2) When your plane landed in Portugal what ticket did you also present to the immigration officials? knowing that you will be required to fly back to Nigeria if you didn't get a job in 120 days?

1. You are required to book a return ticket
2. You would present your return ticket
But according to the newly released laws, job seeker is fir highly skilled professionals from henceforth. Its sad though

Good day everyone

I'm an Erasmus scholar and my first mobility is Portugal. With this new authentication development, they mentioned that the school should send academics transcript to the MoE but on the authentication website, there is a page to upload transcript. Which one should I follow and do I still need to tell my school to send verification letter to the ministry?

Your school can send to ministry of education your transcript cope and you can come to Abuja to pick it and authenticate if you want to do it yourself or someone can handle it for you.

You are not longer required to send any email from your school again.
