so one has to wonder where your own figures are coming from. if your basic figures are not accurate or verifiable - everything else you say will be suspect . it is what it is.

for anyone in festac buying dispenser water - park and shop is selling cascade water at 1k/bottle. however shine your eye - i think the guy selling is selling some bottles filled with tap water. a suspicion

People's quality of life dey drop steady.

Until this year, our meals comprised of meat. chicken and titus fish as the primary protein source.

I'll buy 6 kilos of meat, one large-size chicken and 5 pieces of big-size iced titus fish. (fish was for the kids) and every was in the range of 37-40k. Wifey will do bulk cooking, store in the deep freezer and we go dey chop am as we want.

Now, to purchase the same quantity of animal proteins cost about 100k. So we have dropped the chicken and now we make do with meat and fish only.

As per products, some substitutes are just inferior to the popular and more expensive brands......and you end up going back to the popular brands.

Take spaghetti for instance. Golden penny is the most expensive on the supermarket shelves. I ported to Honeywell but wifey complained, "ko wu dada", isn't as filling and as tasty so I went back to buying golden penny. I tried power pasta, same result too. That's the way I feel about other noodle brands.

Another example is Sudocrem which is what we use as diaper cream for the baby. When it finished, I went to restock and it was going for 12k (250g). So I got Vaseline BlueSeal Petroleum Jelly (225g) for #1400 after all, it's also paediatrician approved for use as a barrier and baby diaper cream. We used it and discovered it disintegrates the absorbent barrier of the diaper making urine leak so we had to go back to sudocrem.

back in 2009/2010 - i cooked with canola oil. then it was like 2600 per bottle. then there was a drop in value of naira, it went to 4k, and i ported to nigerian cooking oils

I used to buy colgate toothpaste - now we buy closeup. i used to buy morning fresh now we buy 2sure.
and like i said - you have to know where to shop. the same item is 1k in shop a and 1.5k in shop b. no rhyme or reason to it.

yeas ago i was buying imported kitchen rolls at n600. now those are in 5k range and the nigerian ones are n800 - so i just buy serviette

the real prayer is that the expensive and quality appliances you bought do not spoil because there is replacing them will be fking hard.
