The Enugu State Government on Tuesday ordered an investigation, arrest, and prosecution of a group of students involved in the bullying and physical assault of a student at the Federal Government College, Enugu.

The government condemned the bullying of a student in the school hostel.

On Monday, a video clip circulating in social media showed some students of the Federal Government College, Enugu, assaulting another student in the school hostel.


In a public service announcement issued by the Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ndubueze Mbah, the government underscored its displeasure over the incident and zero tolerance for bullying, abuse, and any form of dehumanising treatment in the learning environments across the state, warning that there would always be consequences for such acts.

Mbah said that the state government has been communicating with the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure sanctions are applied to the errant students and school managers who failed in their duties.

The commissioner reassured parents, students, and members of the public that the state government would always prioritize the safety and welfare of students, citing the record and massive investment the Governor Peter Mbah Administration had made in the education sector as a commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive learning atmosphere.

I don’t think he has the jurisdiction to arrest, & prosecute, it is a Federal school under the purview of Abuja, The Minister of State for education is the person that has the jurisdiction not the state governor.

Who is thr CSO of a state? He had every right to punish them since it was carried out in his state. They don't have immunity from the state government where the school is located

Some attitude and character were never known with the Igbos.

I mean, the very reason why people hated the Igbos and the South generally was not just because of their religious difference or cultural difference, but, for the fact that some characters, like their peace, hospitality, love, intelligence, educational prowess, made them intimidate other cultures or people of other ethnicity.

But now, they are at their lowest of low.

If the bullying occurred in the premises of the school, then it is the Federal Government’s exclusive jurisdiction o.

On this one you are right. I went through this for years in Eric moore government college and truth be told the natural path was to join cult in university .

Being bullied made me want to be come strong and I saw cult as a natural protection.

Bullying is a terrible thing . It makes the victim to make wrong decisions
