Lies! How can you be sure the crime rate is low when much of what happens in China is censored? And many Chinese residents who attempt to speak out have quietly disappeared? That's kind of like declaring that the crime rate in North Korea is low!

This kind of information can't be censored because there are foreigners and foreign journalists in China that can easily witness the real crime rate.

Their own population - they know what such sight can cause to the general wellbeing of the people. In fact, somebody might decide to do it too - it becomes normal when it's seen easily seen and a potential attacker would find a better way to.
