Ibejumatters:
The good thing about having access to cheap finance at early age cannot be underestimated. Nigeria needs to change the way it makes things hard for ordinary people. Many things are wrong with this country and those things need to be fixed.

This guy will have strength and good health to enjoy his car and house for the next 40, 50 years. Compare to an average Nigerian who will have to work for 30 years before being able to afford such a good car and house. At what age will he enjoy them?60,70?
Who is this Nigeria that you are waiting for to come out and make things less hard for ordinary people? Are you referring to the looters allowed to be our tribal leaders in sharing the national cake huh

edet19892015:
Unless you understand your role in society, you can never make any meaningful contribution.

According to the Greeks, they are three types of people on Earth,
1. The idiots,
2. The tribesmen, and
3. The citizens.

Studies show only 10% of Africans are citizens.
The remaining 90% are either tribesmen or idiots.

1. When the Greeks used the word "Idiot", they did not use it as a curse word.
Idiots are people who just don’t care.
If they sit for exams, they will cheat.
If they are in government they will steal.

An idiot does not care at all, if he eats bananas he throws the peels anywhere instead of putting them in a trash bin.

IDIOTS won't attend monthly neighborhood meetings. They won't pay security dues. They won't contribute to community development. Even when they see or know about something that will harm others in the community they won't report it. When they see/know/have something that will benefit their community they won't share.

In fact, Idiots don't care to register for or vote in an election, yet they complain the most. If they register to vote, IDIOTS will sell their votes for peanuts.

According to the Greeks, some societies have more idiots than tribesmen and citizens.

2. The next set of people are "Tribesmen", these are people that look at everything from the point of view of their tribe.

These are people that believe in you only if you are part of their tribe.
It can be terrible to have a tribesman as a leader, he will alienate the rest.

When the Greeks talk about tribes, it’s not just about ethnicity, they also consider religion, gang membership, group membership, party membership and even cult membership as a tribe.

A great percentage of Africans are tribesmen, because they view everything from the point of view of their tribes. They trust only their tribesmen

3. The last group are "Citizens".
These are people who like to do things the right way.
They will respect traffic light rules even if no one is watching them.

They drive within speed limits.
They respect the laws, and won’t cheat in exams.
In government, they won’t steal.
They are compassionate and give to others to promote their well-being.

Citizens often promote projects that benefit everyone.
The Greeks called this group "The Citizens".

Some countries have more citizens than tribesmen and idiots, others have so many idiots.

A tribesman can become a citizen through orientation.
And an idiot can become a citizen by training and constant enforcement of the law.

But things fall apart if you elect an idiot or tribesman to lead you if he has not been reformed.

Where do you belong? Are you an idiot, a tribesman or a citizen? Reflect on your life.
Reflect about your immediate community, city, state and nation.

Loans and NHS are not available to Nigerians?
studyless123:
You're trying so hard to explain what's irrelevant.
bdon123 stated a fact and you went off-topic.
The individual doesn't own the house, the house can be foreclosed or repossessed if he doesn't meet the terms of the mortgage.
Such credit facilities are not available to most Nigerians so many of us would think it was bought outright.
It's true that he's a home owner but incorrect to state that he's a landlord.
We should be transparent with our achievements.

I wish Nigeria had such arrangement for average citizens. As a civil servant, I've not been able to access Nationa Housing Scheme (NHS). Certain highly placed individuals were demanding for a percentage of the money before they even consider processing. . . 🤐

The small bank loan I collected to complete my house, The useless bank wants to stranglē me with outrageous interest rates that have more than doubled in the last two years 😭💔💔💔

To import a second hand vehicle, Nigerian Customs will practically drain the last bloød out of you. One can't even dream of acquiring a brand new car in Nigeria without having High Bloød Pressure 😞
How much is your own salary as a civil servant to afford all these things huh

Whats the difference between mortgage and credit?
Vision101:
Forget this. Nigerians are too loud. The house is on mortgage, the car is on credit. He will not tell you how many shifts he's working to make up. He might presently be bothered that his papers are about to expire. He might be thinking of the route to use. With his masters degree he might end up accepting sponsorship from a care home. This means that that's what he will do for the next five years.

This means bye bye to a career in engineering for example that he made 2.1 plus masters degree. If he decides to avoid using this route he might have to go for a PhD. This means that he has to face payment of tuition for another three years and back to 20 hours per week menial job for the duration of his studies. UK PhD is not beans particularly in stem. Many start but don't finish.

I'm not saying that there are no advantages after all the family invested life time savings. There should therefore be returns. But it not the way some of them come online to paint it.

Govt have a role to play but these are private sector driven. Besides the average Nigeria is not a good debtor. There are many reasons why these cannot work for the average Nigerian. You're just affected by a "system". It is what it is.
If they are private sector driven, then why are we allowing pseudo progressive socialist APC scammers to destroy us with their cash and food palliatives instead of creating jobs for everyone?

A large crowd of Lagosians was filmed in a long queue struggling to collect a loaf of bread. To maintain order, several military personnel were on the ground to control the crowd. This has triggered a lot of reactions online.

Stop being ignorant,he is not going to enjoy paying that mortgage, the thing with us outsiders is that we never think before wasting our money on fruitless ventures,in 30 years time he is going to start thinking about returning home and that is when he will realize that he messed up by wasting his time paying mortgage for a pathetic house in a country and environment that fools you into believing that you are happy.
Note: he won't even finish paying it in 30 years Time.

There are foolish people everywhere, even in the USA.

If one has the opportunity to go to a cheap community college to obtain education but instead goes to a posh expensive university and stacks ip huge debt then that person is stupid, and there are tons of people who do that in the US and end up complaining about student debt.

Again, there are those who feel too big to do certain jobs after graduating from expensive posh universities and stacking up student debt. These class of people take the opportunity they have for granted and so become loafers and complainers instead of being hardworking and goal oriented so they can quickly clear whatever debt they have and get on with life.

For every one American who complains about student debt, there are 10 more Americans who took advantage of it to build a good comfortable life. They just don't make the news cos theirs is not "bad" news.

If you feel your corruption infested malfunctioning country Nigeria is better than western countries like USA, Canada, UK, Germany, etc, by all means enjoy the country. Let those who want to better their life in an environment that promotes competence and hardwork instead of nepotism and tribalism do so. And when they announce their achievement, don't get envious and bitter. It's their life, not yours.
Oga, calm down. I am not a fan of Nigeria. But the right info needs to be passed abeg. I am a software developer and I am fine. I have friends in the UK too and I know how they work. I dont have such energy for such a life style. And I wish every body well. I am not a fan of Nigeria. But my problem is how many Nigerians make it look like that is the only option left for humanity, that is traveling to abroad. Paint the right picture pls. No matter where u are, if u are not ready to work and offer real value, u wont make money.
If u earn salary here too, especially, from 500k and above, there are loan options for u scattered everywhere.
How can someone in the UK for three years now, be doing 5 nights shift in a week? That is terrible. No matter the amount of money paid, that is terrible. I have 7 friends in the UK. I know how they work. They didnt work like that when they were in Nigeria o. I am not a fan of Nigeria. My comment history here can attest to that. But the right info should be passed.
I am among those who feel too big to do certain jobs. I didnt come to this life to do any type of job so that i can make all the money in this life and impress who? That is the reality of many Nigerians and that is why they go abroad to do any type of jobs, including double shifts, just to gather all the money on earth and impress those at home. Well, those who can, I wish them well. The citizens of those countries dont do that as well. I see their citizens lament as well, my job exposes me to them a lot and we talk regularly.

Why so bitter? Pray for the youngman to be able to pay it.

And why assuming his life will be pathethic after 30 years?. Yours could even be worse. If he remains abroad for the next 30 years and you remain in Nigeria, he is more likely to outlive you going by the differences in life expectancy indice, access to good life/ security and medical system if bithe countries. In fact you are more likely to be long dead before he finishes paying the morgage going by current indices of both countries according to UN.

Also, if you are not dead and he finishes paying it in 30 years and sell it(Naira should be about N1,000,000. 00 to 1GBP then) he would be able to buy 2 houses on Bourdillion where your current drug/looter lives. You are more likely to have moved back to your village at the rate Nigeria is projected to deteriorate in the next 30 years

In 30 years, he is likely to have become a citizen(with its attendant benefits and obvious value of the passport), with opportunities to rise higher and have his talent recognised without tribalism, religious bias, nepotism intolerance and chaos( hello Kemi Badenoch and other Nigerians doing wonders in various parliaments across the saner societies)

Look at yourself and pity yourself more rather than bitterness at a youngman's progress and achievement

This exposes your buffonery and clearly support those who state that travelling overseas or studying overseas is compeltely different from being intelligent. Heck, even semi retards travel all over the world too.

So long as he contributed a downpayment, he is a part owner of that house, by equity, no matter how small that is. Even if he did a mortgage, every repayment builds towards total ownership . To that extent, he is free to call himself a part landlord, according to the law(even if that is on mortgage terms). So what is wrong with what he stated?

Your myopia and poor esteem is what made you highlight your itinerary all over the world, we did not need all of that and clearly was not necessary if you had been a bit more intuitive in reasoning
