Don't mind them

They're blaming the loss of customers on inflation

Meanwhile, Netflix is growing under the same inflation

Who are they deceiving?

So many people are not happy with their pricing model on which they even repeat movies and shows without an opportunity to choose what to watch when you want it
More complain will hit dem. Country hard dem come dey high dere prices wen people dey struggle to feed. If the get sense make dem low dere prices if not more crying 😭 await them😂

They should continue increasing prices for their packages. I don't even see the sense in increasing price and losing customers.Keep the price low,and retain your customers.
Exactly. Low ur price and d people will just kip subscribing. High price for same old films, repeating films nothing new again.

.... when the environment is not conducive for bussinesses, DSTV to thrive..the high exchange rate..1,730 naira to a dollar...high costs of fuel, disel.. to operate and run their generator, lack of electricity power supply, multiply taxation , high electricity light bill...all this affects bussinesses and this will cause bussinesses to increase their price so they can stay in bussiness and survive the hard economy and bad economy..so it's federal government to provide a conducive environment for bussinesses to thrive
Multi choice has made billions, and still makes billions despite high cost of fuel.they should keep it low and people will keep on subscribing, and the money will still come in,

It's just like saying danfo drivers should keep their prices at 200 a drop instead of the 700 they increased it to just to retain their customers.
Which danforth driver has a constant customer base of 200 people?
Let's say subscriber base is 50,000 and they price is 2,500.In a month it's 125,000,000. Then for them to lose 230,000 they have probably over 1 million subscribers.
At 2,500 they will still make enough profit. Leave multichoice except you are a staff there defending the every market day increase.

I simply told them not to expect any recharge from me.

Price of 200 naira, not customer base.
Guess you do not know they have operation cost, they run a franchise, pay for each channel they broadcast in dollars pay salaries, Abi will they continue paying local workers at the same rate without increment after the inflation? What about diesel cost, nepa bills, cost of regulatory agencies, taxes, broadcast licenses? Cost of copyright etc, heck just my small hotel another group calling themselves "moson" brought bill of N8.5m claiming copyright bills that customers use mp4 to play music in their hotel room.
If you have ran businesses b4 you will know what you say is not realistic.

I went to their office yesterday in south gate johannesburg to ask them if they have only supersport package that i can subscribe to they said no. I turned around and left. Aside football and formula 1 and sometimes basketball, there is nothing interesting to watch on dstv. Even showmax lacks good content. Dem go soon fold.

..is not a matter of making billions... Dangote that owns companies in Nigeria had made billions but he still increase the price of his cement and other products and fuel, disel, avaition fuel,..coca cola company, fanta, indomie noodles company, Nigeria breweries company that manufacture beer..all this company I mention has made billions in Nigeria and they still increase the price of their products and goods now...so it's not a matter of making billions..if the federal government provides a conducive environment for bussinesses, , companies , DSTV, industries to thrive.. the price of their goods and products will reduce

....why much people are not subscribing is because of lack of constant electricity power supply to watch the DSTV.programs, the high costs of fuel..1200 naira a litre ..to use their generator to watch the DSTV programs with fuel of 1200 naira per liter..many nigerians cannot fuel their generator again at 1200 naira per liter to watch dstv programs and other TV programs that is why subscription for this DSTV is low.. many nigerians cannot even on their generator again due to the high costs of fuel..so this is another reason ..lack of constant electricity light supply and high costs of fuel

Lol.
Now l know why l have been receiving calls from GOTV agents.
.
I told them point black that the current economy doesn't allow people to waste money on subscription when there is no light in the country.
.
I just ended the call after speaking to their conscience.

These products are used on demand. But this subscription thing we pay for ,is for a month and some people might not even have time to watch it for 2 straight weeks, or like you stated have the electricity to watch it. Who loses at the end ?The customer paying for high subscription that is barely watched. The issue is the frequent hike. They should bring it down ,whether there's light or not most people won't mind paying for it.

.it's not the fault of DSTV if one does not watch it everyday or does not have time to watch it for a straight two weeks...their programs and channel are on for 24 hours everyday... DSTV is not stopping anyone from watching it everyday..it's not dstv that is the cause of lack of constant power electricity light supply and the high cause of fuel,..so it's not dstv fault if one does not watch it everyday or does not have time to watch it...it's the choice of the customer to watch it everyday or not..not dstv choice

Bmani:
Now that we have smart TV, Dstv and other cable TVs will soon go into extinction.

The loss of over 243,000 Nigerian subscribers for MultiChoice underscores just how hard inflation and economic challenges are hitting household budgets. With high inflation impacting the cost of essentials like food, electricity, and fuel, it’s no surprise that many people are choosing to cut back on non-essential expenses like pay-TV. The situation in Zambia, where prolonged power outages compound the issue, further highlights how complex and varied the challenges across Africa are for MultiChoice.

It’s interesting to see MultiChoice investing heavily in Showmax to adapt to changing viewer preferences and competition from streaming platforms. As streaming grows in popularity across Africa, this strategic pivot could help them retain and even regain subscribers who prefer on-demand content over traditional pay-TV. With Showmax’s reported 50% growth, it’s clear they’re already seeing some success in this shift.

Hopefully, MultiChoice’s continued adaptation to market realities, such as affordability and content accessibility through streaming, will help it balance out the losses in traditional pay-TV subscriptions.

I only use DIggz Free99 add-on to stream old and latest movies. I haven't explore downloading option on the add-on because I watch more of sports than movies.
Which Zenon Build version are you using?

I have that free99 add-on too , recently I downloaded elementum add-on for watching movie and downloading the movie as well. But the file size of the movie are just too big.
I don't use build anymore more oooo. It slows down my system especially that Xenon build.... I do customised my Kodi myself, and by so doing there is enough free space in my ram and my system runs faster. it way far better for me

Exactly, too much addons make streaming buffer alot and lagging. I just searched for few sport add-ons and some few movie add-ons. I will search for the elementum add-on since it has downloading functions. Do you have this Dstv South Africa addon that has 52 Dstv channels, including all super sport, African magic and the rest?
Kodi is too big to explore, unlimited sports, movies, documentaries, news, music etc. The beginning and the of entertainment is in that stuff, if you know your way around it. Hustling no dey give me much time again to explore the app is I want.

Yea. Too many add-ons make Kodi lag, but you can I increase the cache memory of the Kodi so as to help the Kodi app run faster...... I have that dstv add-on u talking about, rapid stream livetv(RSLV). but I have deleted it, because I found those same exact 52 channels in loop addon. You can install the loop addon if you are looking for livetv channels with EPG, Then link the loop with your PVR simple client. You will get that same IPTV vibes

There is this add-on I am using, can't remember the name again. I got it from the maintenance option on Zenon. It clears cache automatically on Kodi start up.
I have played around that PVR simple client and iptv merger. It loaded up to 1600 plus channels but still feeling I didn't get it right because the channel should be more than that. One reason I don't frequent that PVR simple client is because most of the channels are in 1080 pictures quality and 720, good for unlimited data subscribers with good network speed. 720 and 480 still give clear pictures
I have been seeing that loop all the time. I have not tried linking with PVR. Like how many live channels did you get after linking?
I still need to check the pictures you sent.

Yes, all in EPG. You can still get more channels when you enable IPTV meger from add-on repository setup. There is this Mad-Titans add-on I linked also, Plutotv, dstv now, plextv, IPTV aus, IPTV nz or some other EPG. I later got about 6k plus when I merge all but it takes time to load whenever I start the Kodi. And sometimes force to close once or twice whenever channels are loading on start up.
