This is dangerous! Mosquito larvae have their own purpose in the ecosystem. They are food to some aquatic animals, which in turn become food to even larger aquatic animals, till it gets to humans.

What happens if they transmit something worse than malaria? I mean, the current mosquitoes can't transmit HIV virus. What if this new ones can transmit HIV?

Also, this invention will cause an extinction of mosquitoes, as the offsprings don't get to adult age.

Besides, we know the current mosquitoes transmit malaria, filariasis, etc. What if this new one transmits something else that might be difficult or impossible to treat? What if they become more effective as fomites for pathogens and parasites?

What if the new ones are more easily prone to mutation? What would we do if we don't know how to fight this new threats (mosquitoes attack, new disease attack, etc) if they come?
There is nothing economic about mosquitos. Other flys ans insets can be us3d to replace whatever the environment benefit from mosquitos. Have you considered the cost of managing malaria in the tropics?? Angola and Singapore are malaria free due to this invention. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria. Now do you know what fraction of the population that is?? According to WHO, Malaria is a major public health concern in Nigeria, with an estimated 68 million cases and 194 000 deaths due to the disease in 2021. Nigeria has the highest burden of malaria globally, accounting for nearly 27% of the global malaria burden. So if Nigeria can encourage the adoption of this technology to manage this manace, I believe it's best for us.

Wow, these whites and Asians are busy playing God while Africans still killing themselves over religion. Imagine editing the genetic code of an entire species of insects to suit your needs, something no pastor on this planet can do.grin

Science is indeed the future.
What you mockers of God don't understand is that every endeavor of man is a calling from God. The motive behind the different callings is to create a balanced world where we can all choose an endeavor and succeed in it, and ultimately making a meaning out of life.

Being a doctor, pastor, business person, lawyer, and so on are all callings from God. At the end of the day, all these endeavors meet at the point of their need because one endeavor can't satisfy itself in the scheme of things. Pastors go to doctor and doctors also go to pastors. Business people go to lawyers and lawyers also go to business people, pastors, or medical practitioners. This is the design of life so we can all find importance in all endeavors.

So, stop this fooolish behavior of trying to mock one endeavor over the other. We all have our roles in the larger scheme of things. If you decide to act fooolish today, that's still okay because people in other endeavors would still need you. As such, in the larger scheme of things, you are still important. If pastors were not important, won't see people flocking into churches. Even medical practitioners go to church; business people and those in other endeavors also go to church. So, what can you make of this?

You think people that go to church all over the world are all foools? That should be a food for thought for you. Learn to be critical in your reasoning, please.

Even if your environment is neat and clean, you will still have mosquitoes visiting you. Its a natural epidemic in Africa!
Urgent1Million:
At least there's a treatment for malaria.
Would you prefer they smuggle a strange disease into Africa in the name of mosquito whose proboscis can not penetrate human skin?
You probably don't have an idea what these "researchers" do in the name of "testing" some stupid science.
We don't need GMM. What we need is improved standard of living that would bring about a cleaner environment and access to quality healthcare.
Our leaders need to wake up and see through the hypocrisy of the west in the name of aids to Africa.
Re: Genetically Modified Mosquitoes Can't Penetrate Human Skin (Video) by hamzeiy: 11:25am On Nov 16, 2024
It would have been better for them to get vaccines for malaria.
GM mosquito is man playing God and always comes with it repercussions.
Everything is created in equilibrium and perfection. Eliminating mosquitoes could lead to greater evil to the ecosystem.
The development of some level of resistance to malaria by Africans and Asians might be the reason we have not been affected by certain diseases perculiar to our habitat.

Vaccine should be the way not GMs.

In general GM anything has never been good in the long run.

You eat and breath GM world since your conception.
From the rice you import from Thailand to the wheat, tomato u use to cook, all are products of gmo.
Also, you don't outlive the people you accuse.

Even your garments, drugs, everyday household stuffs in your house are by products of gmo.
All these brainwashed people by pastors that are living comfy with gmo products.

I saw one mosquito recently, it came out of a pipe in our soakaway, I swr to Christ almighty it was as big as a tse tse fly
If that type bites somebody you will get malaria that very minute.
I have never seen a mosquito that big.

Do you know that the most prolific killer of human beings in Africa every year for the last 20+ yrs is the ubiquitous African mosquitoes.

My question is this why are this bored and overfed ediots creating mosquitoes.

This innovation gon see thousands of pharmaceutical companies bankrupt, causes huge job losses, loss of billions $$ revenues from malaria drugs sales in africa, asia & south america.
It will saves lives of millions of infants, teens, pregnant women & increase productivity in men.
When i was a teenager almost lost my life to malaria....i done suffer for mosquito hand ooo, that i vow when i grow up am going to find a way to eradicate them..i remembered fetching d larvae in a jar from d gutter & watch them change from larvae to pupas to adult mosquitoes then i killed the bastards.
Thank God i have developed some resistance to malaria over d years.

Ok, while at it, they should make it be big like that insect that used be a snack in those days. They flock to kerosine light inside a bowl of water to trap them.

Those old enough in the house can relate. grin grin

Turn the mosquitoes to a nice snack.

Lol, who tell you?

They can generate a single "Covique 27" according to Bubu and make a trillion dollars in no time. Pharma will never lose. Yes, jobs will be lost temporarily.

As deadly as Covid-19 was, big pharma refused to release the vaccine patent to SA, India and other countries capable of mass-producing it.

My conclusion over malaria is that pharma people were never really serious about it. It does not generate much money for them as we think.

Yep, I discussed it with people working in the sector.

If you doubt me, look at how rea, naturall earthly food has now been replaced with artificial, genetic-modifying gmos. Very soon you all will beg your masters for seed to plant and will be charged and indebted with your very soul just to feed.

Lol... You are dumb to think that because their proboscis can't penetrate and adult's skin, they can't penetrate a kid.

2. Also, they are living things, and will find a way to evolve and modify this proboscis to begin penetrating human and other animals' skin.

3. What evidence do you have to show that this mosquito is not an immature youngster, or a sick one? Because normally, female mosquitoes suck blood before their eggs can mature to be laid. How will they procreate if they don't feedhuh
