Caseless:First question, did they break in? If no then you let them through the gate, and for something like this, it will probably be at night, so you allowed someone without appointment in without the oga's knowledge. 2. They took you to your oga, very funny, that means, there was another door and you somehow asked them to open the door for you under false pretense for the robbers to operate. 3. They gave you 100k?🙄🙄 As what, thank you, safe journey, and YOU COLLECTED IT🙄🙄🙄 WHY? Because you couldn't say NO? 4. You said the other guys were arrested and testified you knew nothing😂😂😂 but they released them because?🙄🙄 If they were Yoruba now, you can say they use that fact but NO! You said lawyers, guess what, the only way you get a death penalty for armed robbery is if there's intent to cause harm with both evidence and witnesses, your friends turned on you, that's IF, any of what you said is true, and that is a big IF! And finally, you said you guys were friends, he brought you to Lagos, got you the Job and within 12 months, the above happened, even with the fact that you were the one telling the story, there was no way for you to explain the above away, imagine when we decide to investigate. |

He cannot be completely exonerated, he knew the architect of the robbery, operation planned in his room. He was even warned not to allow the guy into the compound but he kept on harbouring him. He ran away with them after the robbery, received a share of the loot. All of that cannot be just coincidence. He can only appeal the sentence. The sentence is harsh for the crime. |

Can't something as simple as a lie detector test be carried out to detect culpability? Why are we still living in the stone age? |

But I don't understand the Nigerian police. The guy came back to explain, they arrested him. Now they've arrested the real robbers who testified that he wasn't part of them, that testimony is enough to exonerate him, yet they still kept him, and released the thieves. Now they've sentenced him to death. What kind of country is this. Maybe he needs a lawyer. If you father is a police man you should be praying everyday by 9,12,6, and 3 |

Ebubu9:Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with Lagos State Government anymore. It's now between the Appeal Court and the Police. Lagos State Government is not in control of any of the two institutions. onatisi: HellVictorinho9:@Bolded is the problem. It could be argued that he is an accessory after he admitted to receiving part of the proceeds of the crime. We don't even know yet if someone or people were murdered during the robbery.

Caseless:You are sounding like an activist! If only you know the percentage of innocent people on death row in our prisons, you wouldn't blink till daybreak. Sometimes, I think Nigeria's problems may be partly due to overflowing injustice in our land. And that's why I will never blame any governor thar refuses to sign death warrants. |

Ebubu9:You will understand this case better if you watch verydarkman version about this issue. This man was tricked into admitting to the crime , and that was why the real robbers were released. When they got to court ,instead of this man pointing out the robbers and identifying then as the real robbers , he rather told the court that he has never seen them before . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cyge_2DrWyQ |

grandstar:Lie detector tests are not very reliable. Even in the USA, where they are used widely, the evidence obtained therein cannot be used in court. A key problem is that they measure stress response, not whether someone is actually lying. Now a liar can be under stress, yes, which is how the test catches some of them, and a liar can lie calmly and beat the test. Also a person telling the truth may be under stress at that moment because anxiety and fail the test. |

The last time I checked armed robbery incident test didn't claim the life of anyone shouldn't deserve death sentence . May be lawyers in the house should advice us better. If he js truly guilty he wont go back to the work place ...We are living in a country where there is miscarriage of justice ..He might even go to jail for being igbo |

FreeStuffsNG:He was given 100k by the guys that robbed . He was the one that brought them into the house , one of them is his friend and his madame had warned him about bringing people into the house. Noone was killed , they bundled him into the car they stole ,dropped him off ,they gave him 100k and told him to run away, he went back to the madame house and she got him arrested . Then the madame lawyer came and advised him to tell the judge that he doesn't know the robbers and likewise the madame before ,that was how the real robbers were released . If he had told the truth and identified them , he won't be in this mess |

greggng:Armed robbery is a capital offense in Nigeria and it doesn't matter if it resulted in no fatalities or deaths. Even if you use a fake replica gun to rob someone it's still considered as an armed robbery offense and attracts the same capital punishment. For you to conclude that he was convicted because he is Ibo , what of the other accused that he claimed were discharged ? Are they not Ibos as well? |

vannessa7:Even a replica toy gun is considered as being armed as the entire purpose of armed robbery is to terrorise someone to give up their property under threat of violence. It's inconsequential the kind of weapon used be it an AK 47 or a screwdriver - as long as the victim was intimidated by use of a deadly weapon or threat to life or bodily harm , it's still armed robbery. |

onatisi:If no one was killed then I am relieved. Your explanation is more than he is in a mess, he is even liable for perjury if it's true that he lied under oath to deny knowing the other suspects. It will be difficult to get those freed suspects tried again. There's nothing to prove that his Madam and her Lawyer participated in the perjury. They are not the prosecution but prosecution witness. |

nairalanda1:They are far more advanced themselves days. They focus on your brain activity. You use up more brain activity when telling a lie than stating the truth. Someone becomes untestable when they use drugs. Many US states now use them in their judicial system. It's also applied by the Child Protective Service to determine whether a child is being abused by a parent. ruffhandu:And you believe the condemned inmate statement ? This is what the police refer to as "after thought". I believe there's more to this story and I am not buying this guy's account at all. FYI, such a case will not be prosecuted in court by the Police. Instead it will be prosecuted by the Lagos State ministry of justice through the DPP office. The DPP won't arraign someone for such serious offense without conclusive proof and evidence that they will get a conviction. That's why after the first court arraignment before a magistrate court by the investigative police office, the case file is sent to the DPP for advice and prosecution. Most times the DPP will review the first police investigative report and review the initial charges when they see that there is no case before filing fresh charges before a competent court. How come this guy's case still went to trial and he even claims he had no legal representation. I smell bullshit. The guy is simply looking for public sympathy and a retrial. This is another more serious mmseonoma case in the making. |

nwakibie3:This is a serious case which I know will not be prosecuted by the Police but by the Lagos State DPP office. As bad as e be , I don't think a State like Lagos and it's Ministry of justice will be so unprofessional and at the same time convict an innocent man of armed robbery and hand down the death sentence while exonerating four other suspects who confessed to the police . This is Lagos and not some shithole state . I will rather hear from the Lagos state AG office than some convicted armed robber. |
