That's not technically possible right now because of the Ukraine war. All weapon systems are forwarded to the battlefield and ammunition depots.

4. Iran is simply incapable of pulling its own weight to protect its interests outside Iran. If Russia goes after Israeli jets operating in Syria, the IAF will pick on Assad's government. That's not a distraction that Russia wants right now. That's essentially two high-profile NATO wars in two continents. Iran would be of no help.

Russia stands back to protect Assad. That's it.

The mullahs should eliminate corruption, fix their economy, then they'll have enough money to acquire and rapidly develop the weapon systems needed to establish a NORAD equivalent in the Levant.

You cannot expect to siphon off your oil wealth, waste in on chicas and whatever perversions you like, then expect the Russians to gloss up your inadequacies. They have commitments around the globe. From Eurasia to Africa to South America. And they're attempting to meet those commitments with an economy that's less than a third of either the US or China.

Talk is cheap. Before attempting to rake Russia over the coals, we should ask if Iran can singlehandedly protect Assad if Russia pulls out.
They can't protect Lebanon. They can't protect Iraq. But they want Russia to fight their battles in Syria.

Although you're right on why Russia won't get involved with Israel in Syria, you didn't disappoint trying to weave Iran into your comment and taking a swipe (an unfair one this time) at the "Mullahs" as usual.

First, Iran hasn't asked Russia to go after Israeli jets in Syria. There's nothing in the comment you quoted that says so, there's nothing I've seen anywhere that suggests so.
Iran is clearly no novice in these matters and and thus, understands the delicate balancing act Russia has to put up to maintain its interests among all the sides involved.

Second, barrels of sanctions and NOT corruption is mostly responsible for Iran's poor showing in building a formidable air force and acquiring world class air defence capabilities. And I doubt the world truly knows Iran's true air defence worth now, giving the sterling performance they put up defending against Israeli attacks last month.

Corruption is a thing all over the world, particularly in oil producing countries. Even Russia has its own dose, as oil has a way of making thieves out of government officials. However, very few countries will stay afloat, let alone develop the military capabilities that Iran has, under those gruelling sanctions and unrelenting US/Israel efforts at creating an implosion within that country for decades.

The "Mullahs" do have their shortcomings, but giving their harsh circumstances, they've done very well for Iran.
