Hi everyone, I need to get a catalyst converter for 2007 accord. I recently bought my car without one, and I've been told to get one to improve the fuel efficiency.
The problem is my mechanic said a new one "China" will cost me 120k while tokunbo will cost over 400k, which I'm struggling to believe is true.
"How much I buy the car that the catalyst will be 400k?"
Anyway, I need to know if he's trying to reap me off and where I can get one myself if he is indeed trying to.

Catalyst doesn't increase fuel efficiency

If you're in Lagos, locate Willoughby Street in Oyingbo (that's the HQ for Honda parts in Lagos) and get your catalyst yourself. I'm very certain it's not up to that price quoted. I got a china one 2months ago for 04 Accord and it cost less than half of the price quoted for you.

I hope this helps.

Try scanning the car. It could be your oxygen sensors need replacing, air filter could be blocked or damaged... There are several reasons that will cause a car to be fuel inefficient...

I own a Honda accord 2006, automatic transmission. The issue is that whenever it's about to change into gear 2, it take a while before it enters, sometimes Jerks if i don't slightly remove my leg from the accelerator. Also, after driving for a long time, the D light on the dashboard starts blinking. A mechanic suggested I change the gear totally.

Try scanning the gear and share the code.
However, the issue is most likely the switch on the gear, its called gear switch.
They are 2 of them, one is big and the other is small. Its most likely the big switch.

First step is to scan the gear and share the code..

Shift solenoid A stuck open.
Its means the transmission switch is bad.
You may be lucky to change it and resolve the issue.

If you dont mind, service the gear by changing the oil and washing/changing the filter on the tranny, then change the switch.
If symptoms persist, you will have to change the transmission.

Other gurus in the house, please share your input.

Bros this is Honda, not Toyota. Honda transmission oil filter is inbuilt and the only way to access it to "wash or clean" it is to teardown the transmission.

You are not helping anyone by not giving them the reason for your suggestion. If you want to help him, then explain.

Change the solenoid as suggested by others, then do drain and refill. If you are lucky, this will fix your problem.
If it doesn't fix it, then you have two options. Either you replace the transmission or find a good technician to rebuild it for you.
And before anyone comes to tell me rebuilding Honda transmission is a waste of money, please stick to what you know.

No, Honda Accord 03 to 07 has external transmission filter. Including other models using the K24 engines

Those vehicle gear were known to be not rugged especially if the fluid isn't change regularly or wrong fluid was used.
You can try a gear expert in oyingbo to help service and change the faulty solenoid or switch button then use DW1 and change latest every 2 years.

I was wrong about the D-light should be check engine light. D-light blinking is transmission issue

Urgently need a small car. Have seen 2 cars close the the set budget - 04/05 Honda civic and 2007 Honda city.
Please, which of the 2 is more forgiving, easy and cheap to maintain and generally a better car?

Both cars are very okay and also easy to maintain. No car is cheap to maintain for now, considering the high price of replacement parts now. As for their parts availability, you wouldn't have to sweat before finding any. So the choice is yours.

If you're buying car now, just rule out cheap maintenance please. Nothing is cheap anymore. Original synthetic 5w-30 engine oil alone cost close to a 100k.

Civic is better because
1. If the city nah CVT the owner could have abused the transmission
2. If the city is the idsi engine with 8plugs, the mechanics may mess it up and when it's time to change plugs, life go Taya you original plugs nah like 30 to 50k multiply by 8 grin

Yes, I agree with you.
However, there is a small black colored filter on the tranny.
This can also be washed and this is the filter I was referring to.

Ok. This black filter hardly changes anything when the transmission is going bad. This is because the flow of oil in it is hardly restricted and there should be a bypass for it. Meaning that even if it is completely blocked, it will hardly cause a problem (but whatever caused the blockage will definitely destroy the rest of the gearbox).
I stand to be corrected as I'm not a transmission technician.

Please don't say what you don't know. Go and do your research.
It is professionally called a 'strainer'

It will relieve the issue but you may need to change the transmission. As for the blinking D-light, you have a misfire, if you have experience overheating before, its the gasket, you need to replace it now that the cylinder and crankshaft are still good. But if no overheating issue, you need to check your coils and plugs, a scan will easily pinpoint the problematic cylinder, switch the coils around and scan if the problem moves to another cylinder then the coil or plugs is the issue, if it remains in that cylinder, you have an engine issue
Oga, the D light has nothing to do with the engine o. It is not 'check engine' light. Stop confusing people. The D light strictly is for your transmission. When it is blinking, it means there's something seriously wrong with the transmission. Please do a little research if you are not sure of something.

Yes I substituted D-light for the check engine light a mistake from me.

As for the strainer it is a replaceable part in transmission not sure for the Honda Accord

Please gurus, my EOD transmission goes off when AC is on( the engine revs when I accelerate but won't move until I turn off engine and restart, but then the problem persist). But without AC, no issues at all.

Please advise on possible solution.
