Communities in Anambra Central Senatorial Zone are in tension as gunmen said to be enforcing the outlawed sit-at-home order wreaked havoc on Monday morning.

DAILY POST gathered that the attacks which happened between 8am and 10am in Abatete, Abagana and Ukpo left no fewer than five persons dead.

A source told our correspondent that the casualties were mainly men of the Anambra Vigilante services.

The first attack was said to have happened in Abatete town, targeting vigilant personnel attached to the town’s President-General (PG).

Three security men were shot and killed in the hail of bullets.

The PG was also said to have been critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.

In separate incidents, the gunmen attacked Abagana and Ukpo communities.

At the Ukpo roundabout, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state, one Vigilante Group member and a motorcycle rider were said to have been killed.

Terrified members of communities around Anambra Central have been sent into panic.

A voice note circulating on social media warned people in Awka not to venture outside, considering the proximity of the attacked communities to Awka, the state capital.

A member of the Abatete community stated that: “We are praying for the recovery of our PG. This senseless violence has left our community shaken.”

Another member of the Ukpo community stated on Facebook: “It was chaos. The attackers came out of nowhere, shooting indiscriminately. Shouting no Biafra, no freedom. We are still trying to process what happened.”

When DAILY POST reached out to police authorities in the state, the spokesperson, SP said: “The details are still sketchy, but our operatives are currently at the scene. I will get back to you with facts as soon as I can.”

Anambra is plaqued with insurgency

God bless Ebonyi state the safest state in South East 🙏 Ebonyi does not observe sit at home. I even went to the bank today and the kids are at school.

Development only comes to peaceful places that's why development has been coming to Ebonyi state and they are angry towards the airport among others.

Anambra is very hot with violence especially during Monday sit at Homes

Please don't go to Anambra on Mondays. If you're already there don't go out on Mondays for the sake of your lives.

Its safe to Equate Igbos With the so called Aboki because their reasonings is almost the same now. Enforcing sit at home for a scammer called NMK is madness.
Yet they claim they are the woke of all tribes. So much of it, i can see. Suffering and smiling.
You enjoy the peace of other regions but your home is boiling . I never see.
Since they claim they don't want the presence of Nigeria Security personnel's, they can now enjoy that of the UGM. I am waiting for the dafts and shameless ones that will come and blame Tinubu just as they blamed Buhari as been responsible for it

Omo d election loss to Buhari then really exposed them as not intelligent at all

Imagine a tribe who once bragged as d most intelligent tribe in d world suddenly become ridiculed cos of their hate for Buhari

They suddenly believed Buhari was cloned without knowing the meaning of cloning and what it entails

Same people believed trump will come n conduct referendum in Nigeria

Same people believed they can get their own country by killing security operatives

No b d same people believe say insulting everyone can get them presidency

Now they are been locked up by a small boy in faraway Finland

One day d Igbos will b too ashamed to tell their coming generations about how they played into d hands of Simon ekpa n how he messed them up

Why are Ebonyi state people always envious of Anambra people?

Growing up, I heard elderly folks comment on this a lot, I thought it was stereotype, but now I'm older i noticed it's not far from the truth.
