Hi. I agreed with your points especially no 3. Some are advising people to deny their families in the States so that they can have a good visa case which is absolutely wrong. Pls all visa applicants should go back to the beginning of this section from page number 1 and read good visa advice from the experts. There are many new self acclaimed experts who give out unrealistic visa clues.
Yall should stop being this way for once!

Mobil567, this is also for you

How will a VO be so sure someone who got a visa 10yrs ago is your family member when the said individual didn’t mention ur full name nor upload your picture? Even if they mention ur full name, the CLASS system the embassy uses isn’t able to match these things and the embassy do not even care. How can the VO match these things? Just how? Just like someone said everyone in the US is being monitored in their room and the government is watching what everyone is doing in their room and that’s why he can’t offer immigration advice on call or chat cuz the government in the US see all things.. you see how that sounds ridiculous? Yeah the same way your assertion sounds

(2) mentioning you have a family member: here’s what’s going to happen.. the VO will want to know more and ask you how they got to the US and when,, they’ll know it they’ve overstayed or not or they can simply search their name in the CLASS system.. if they overstay their visa or they now get green card in some ways, the VO can judge you using that or they might not., it’s a two way thing.. that’s why some people just advise not to

This individual was denied for other reasons. Sometimes you even get denied for no reason at all!

Greetings
Please I need help

I applied for Masters of Public Health (Epidemiology) which i got denied when i was interviewed in Dec 2023. I tried to apply for funding for Spring Term 2025 cos i reapplied but didn't get it.

Now, I want to apply to another school with hopes of getting funding but in Global Health (MPH) which is a different branch of Public Health.

I want to know if it will affect my next interview being that they have my data from the previous interview in their system?

Or should I go on and apply to the school but should be able to defend why the change of course when I go for my interview.

NB: They are different branches in Public Health.

My visa got denied at Abuja embassy Nov 6 7:30am and I want you guys to check it out and tell me if there is any fault so I can prepare well for my next interview next month … she approved 2 visiting visa right because me .

Me: Good morning (smiled while talking)
Vo: good morning and how are you today?
Me: replied I’m fine and you? And we both exchanged a little smile

Vo: so are you married?
Me: No, but I have a fiancé which we’re planning to get married as soon as I return

Vo: okay, so why Jackson state university?
Me: so aside from the political science program and it’s concentration which matches my interest, I discovered an ongoing research work by Dr Phillip at the department on the effect of grassroots movement on policy change in developing countries, moreso this topic resonates with my interest in understanding how local activism can drive political reforms which will be really helpful to Nigeria when I return whereby the citizens can be directly involved in policy making and governance as a whole

Vo: so what’s your plan after graduating?
Me: after completing my masters degree in political science, I intend to return back to Nigeria to utilize the skills and knowledge I have gained in the US particularly about African politics to create a well organized and reform political ideology here in Nigeria

Vo: who is sponsoring you?
Me: my Daddy

Vo:So have you ever travelled before?
Me: No

Vo: have your parents travelled before?
me: no

Vo: so do you have any siblings in the US
me: No

Then she handed me the blue abi na yellow paper I go call and then she said unfortunately we won’t be approving your visa … please can you tell me where the error is guys and also I actually have a sister in the US but I felt I should say no so they won’t deny me cos she also got a student visa in 2019 and she is already a citizen and a soldier self but I felt if I say yes it will hurt my chances of getting a visa cos she didn’t return back .. but if you guys feel there is another reason for my denial please tell me because I’m preparing for another visa interview in few days and do you think I should say I have a sister there and I hope me saying no before won’t get my visa denied again if I say yes this time around
1. Do you have any funding? How much is showing on your I-20? If it's over $10k and your Dad is paying all of it, then it's rather weird that he's never travelled before. It might sound normal to a Nigerian but not so much from an American perspective (though some of their rich people only travel within the States but they would expect that a rich Nigerian would wanna see outside Nigeria).

2. Denying your sister isn't a good move. But we can't tell conclusively whether they connected the dots or not. While telling them about your sister might put you in a tight spot, everything really depends on how good a story you can tell.

The problem now though is that if you're applying again and you just magically pop out a new detail about your sister, wahala! I'll recommend you talk to solid immigration experts, preferably a former VO. You can check out "ZF Visa" on YouTube. Me I no trust all these Naija agents, sorry!

Good morning

I remember someone mentioning something about pre approval request a while ago.
Please what can i do about mine? I've been stuck on it for a long time. I filled the form attached earlier, but nothing

Your first statement makes no sense. Not all parents want to travel out, plus most times it's we as kids who make our parents visit when we have crossed over so what you just Saif makes no sense. One thing with VOs they can use anything to deny anyone that's all

Lol, okay, keep arguing na. So, the VO just asked if his/her parents have travelled for cruise abi? The interviewee said their Dad is sponsoring their education but doesn't provide any details as to how he is able to. Funding and immigrant intent are the two major reasons for F1 denial.

If you already assume VOs just want to deny you, you've already lost the game. Even if this is true, put your best foot forward and eliminate any possible excuse they may have. The OP came here for prep advice and I gave him/her based on my limited experience and knowledge. I'm done.

Lol. Poverty in Nigeria has really affected us with this japa issue. It wasn’t like this many years ago. So everyone that has money in Nigeria must travel out? Or you mean everyone is interested in travelling out? Why’d you think that’s even the reason the OP’s visa was denied? lol do you even know VO denies visa for any reason at all ranging from mood to just “let this guy apply again”?

If you're saying the interviewee didn't mention where the dad works that's a different statement, but saying she was denied cos the dad has 10k to pay and hasn't travelled is a big lie. That's my argument simple.

Allow him to be saying rubbish. Our parents generations didn't like to travel out. In their generation they saw people who travelled out as failures. It's our generations now who are making moves and then we make our parents visit. And when they visit most of them do not want to return. So dunno the rubbish that OP is saying.

Lol, una no dey dip this thing. Westerners typically work hard to travel and see the world. Okay, in your opinion, why did the VO ask for the father's travel history?

The easy way to win any interview is to be able to see into the head of the interviewer. Anyway, I pointed out several things in my original response. It's fine if I'm wrong with this one. I'm also not denying the fact that visa interview outcomes can sometimes be random.

But the interviewee came here for diagnostics of their previous experience and that's what I offered.

Even these parents go there, do omugwo and can’t even wait to come back. It’s not uncommon to see friends who take their parent to do omugwo and the parents can just wait to leave due to cold, loneliness and their inability to attend their usual ceremonial functions and move around

The VO’s question about the father travelling history was just random. That’s not the reason he was denied. Ahaha that sound so ridiculous. How does my father’s travelling history has anything to do with mine? Must my parent travel? My father probably never even know nor see what a visa look like before in his life neither did he even have interest in one, and he lived his life satisfactorily!

The OP could be denied for so many reasons— the VO could have doubt about being able to pay like they doubt just about everyone else without funding. If you’ve visited a US embassy before, you’ll understand. They can even randomly deny a PhD student with full funding and who sounds very convincing of his purpose

Why do you people approach issues like this? There's no where I said that was the reason he was denied!

I emphasized on funding and immigrant intent. The interviewee missed the opportunity to furnish the VO with details about their Dad's financial status. The VO then asked if the parents had travelled before. There's nowhere in the world where frequent international travels doesn't connote wealth.

Abeg una dey overdo! Oya, I'm wrong. Make una rest!

Yes, I did. I used my ammentum number and payment date
Is there anything I have to do after that?

I do this filling every day and I opened a ticket about it , they are yet to get back to me. Annoying part is the money can't be refunded else I would have made payment from a dollar card

Guys, EducationUSA is organizing a student VISA orientation tomorrow and there is an option to join via Zoom. One gets to interact directly with a consular officer. The information is on their instagram page.

This individual was denied for other reasons. Sometimes you even get denied for no reason at all!
Please leave them! I await their arrival from the interview. The ones claiming they know better by ditching useless advice won’t provide help when the time comes.
The main reason I see in that denial was funding but since they are all claiming he should go fill another interview without addressing that instead he should go claim his sister that stayed behind in US. Goodluck to them!!!

If you all take time to read past years on this thread, you will learn your lesson on why you should focus on funding as your number one priority and know that no VO has ridiculous information of linking your siblings with you unless you want to put yourself in that difficult situation.

Which VO even have the time to be doing such tenuous research of linking whatever with whatever…. Thousands if not millions of people share the same surname.. how then is a VO going to know you have a sister 10 yrs ago who applied for a US Visa if you didn’t tell them 😂. I mean they’re human being not God! Even if they have such system algorithm to match it, why’d a VO decide to do that when there are other applicants on que who just want to know their fate real quick

you can disagree in a learned way. There's no correct response here as we are not professionals. If one gets advised, he or she can crosscheck and select which one to adhere to. Attacking everyone that shares their opinion will discourage others and after you people wanted why a thread becomes dormant. Even your opinion is not 100% correct because you are not a US visa officer. Just drop your take and rest.
