Thousands if not millions of people share the same surname.. how then is a VO going to know you have a sister 10 yrs ago who applied for a US Visa if you didn’t tell them 😂. I mean they’re human being not God! Even if they have such system algorithm to match it, why’d a VO decide to do that when there are other applicants on que who just want to know their fate real quick

Where did you ever see on the ds-160 asking applicants about their siblings in Nigeria Please let me know how it’s possible to declare/list your siblings that are in still in Nigeria. Ds-160 only ask of parents info (in Nigeria or not) and siblings that are in US.

Even green card application doesn’t ask your outside the country siblings.

Yeah. We just have to continue disabusing these misconceptions. Decisions are not made before you arrive. They don’t check your DS-160 until you hand in your passport to the VO. The VO scan your passport , and since u already enter your passport number in your DS-160 application, relevant information about you pop up to the VO and it’s ready for check. If your visa is approved, that’s when they do background check in some cases. And what they do is basically send your record already captured in the CLASSIFY system and the transcript of your interview to USCIS, USCIS simply verify and they ask the embassy to add sticker to your passport. In some cases, when you check your ceac, you’ll see issued after the 3rd day or 4th, and if they have doubt, the status change to administrative processing (AP)— probably the proof of fund you use has some issue or your i20 isn’t okay (maybe the school isn’t an approved institution), they’ll deny the visa even after the VO approve it during interview.

That’s because they won’t know until u tell them. The moment you tell them you had a baby in the US (a US traveling history), they will check their computer and they can see the last time you came to the embassy (last time you were given visa). Except you didn’t pay your medical bills in full, or you overstayed your B1/B2, or you gave birth in a cheap hospital (they know it’s cheap when they ask u and u tell them), there’s nothing wrong giving birth on a B1/B2 visa as long as u disclose this during interview and at the POE.

Believing the embassy check your DS-160 or they check anything about you before interview is a ridiculous belief. It’s not true. Only God can know what you didn’t disclose, humans can only try.

In fact it’s easy to tell the information the VO have access to from ur DS-160 when they have access to ur passport during interview, but it’s not information like “this applicant uncle applied for F-1 visa in 2010 and didn’t came back pls reject him” 😂 you need to tell them this yourself.

How will a VO be so sure someone who got a visa 10yrs ago is your family member when the said individual didn’t mention ur full name nor upload your picture? Even if they mention ur full name, the CLASS system the embassy uses isn’t able to match these things and the embassy do not even care. How can the VO match these things? Just how? Just like someone said everyone in the US is being monitored in their room and the government is watching what everyone is doing in their room and that’s why he can’t offer immigration advice on call or chat cuz the government in the US see all things.. you see how that sounds ridiculous? (2) mentioning you have a family member: here’s what’s going to happen.. the VO will want to know more and ask you how they got to the US and when,, they’ll know it they’ve overstayed or not or they can simply search their name in the CLASS system.. if they overstay their visa or they now get green card in some ways, the VO can judge you using that or they might not., it’s a two way thing.. that’s why some people just advise not to

How does my father’s travelling history has anything to do with mine? Must my parent travel? My father probably never even know nor see what a visa look like before in his life neither did he even have interest in one, and he lived his life satisfactorily!

The OP could be denied for so many reasons— the VO could have doubt about being able to pay like they doubt just about everyone else without funding. If you’ve visited a US embassy before, you’ll understand. They can even randomly deny a PhD student with full funding and who sounds very convincing of his purpose

A potential student says the father can afford $36k USD per year for 2 years ($72k in total). At $1/N1600, this is about N115million. In the past, a small business owner could afford to pay the equivalent of $72k as it wasn't much however, in recent times, whoever can afford to pay such has to be a business owner that is doing well, considering the state of the economy.
Asking if the father has ever traveled out is a way of measuring the kind of business the father owns to fund the program. Think through this from the position of a VO and tell me what you would do if you were a VO. The current situation of the country has put us at a disadvantage whether we like it or not. Now, there's more of luck/grace in getting a visa than your intention particularly if you are not funded or on a scholarship.

You know what’s funny? The VO won’t do this. And if they do, you’re telling me it’s easy to link me with Ajanlekoko Tade who applied for a visa 3yrs ago and didn’t come back just cuz my surname is Ajanlekoko, and we seem to enter the same maiden name and parent date of birth in the DS-160?

If the VO do that, he/she is simply discarding the million of different permutations of names that’s possible for each applicant that’s ever applied for a US visa in the world —not just Nigeria. I’ve seen at least 5 people on Facebook that has the same name as me. And it’s easy to google search and find a name just like anyone else here and that name is linked with a crime, and it’s not just you.

The case here is that we overestimated and overemphasised these things

The truth is if you don’t have funding, they don’t trust your word but they approve some people even at that and they deny some people. They know 80% of the time, your parent don’t have the money u claim they have store somewhere..but they approve and they deny..it’s all just hinged on the VO’s disposition.

This guy can go to the embassy tomorrow and say the same thing and get approved. He can say the same thing and still get denied. The best he can do is to review his case himself, try and get funding if possible, and if you can’t get funding, let your case be convincing especially when it concerns who’s paying ur fee and how they’re going to pay that

The main reason I see in that denial was funding but since they are all claiming he should go fill another interview without addressing that instead he should go claim his sister that stayed behind in US. Goodluck to them!!!

If you all take time to read past years on this thread, you will learn your lesson on why you should focus on funding as your number one priority and know that no VO has ridiculous information of linking your siblings with you unless you want to put yourself in that difficult situation.

In this age and time, it is the easiest thing to do. A fuzzy match coupled with a logistic regression would generate plausible relationships. If such is done, it will be at no effort. Besides, why do you think it takes some time to print out visas for some and others very quick? It might not be everyone that is investigated but I am sure, there are some investigations that go on.

That the father has traveled has no bearing on the outcome however, it could help the VO drop his/her guard a bit as she still need tie everything the applicant say to reach a conclusion.

The last option is to create a new DS-160 application to get a new DS-160 confirmation number if you’ve reached out to AVITS without result.

Not sure of my answer but if I were you, I’d go to the embassy the next day and see if I get attended to just to be safe.

Please someone should help me out. I have been stucked at pre approval after making my paying since last week.

Please, this Ds 160 invalid prompt is greatly affecting my ability to pick dates; worse, I cannot even create a support ticket.
