"Realizing this opportunity requires rethinking reform strategies, to build and maintain pro-growth coalitions among constituent leaders and the general public. This will require greater attention to communication and engagement strategies, reform design, compensatory measures, and rebuilding trust in public institutions”. So, what exactly is IMF saying Just writing grammar! |

Are reforms a necessary evil? Absolutely! Is the PBAT admin carrying out its reforms in a well structured manner that ensures the people don’t buckle under the weight of these reforms? The answer is a resounding NO! Are there proper safety nets in place to protect the citizens from the harsh fallouts of the current reforms? Another NO! Has the PBAT admin ensured a judicious and equitable use of the lean resources at its disposal? Your guess is as good as mine. So, what any sensible government ought to do in this case is to follow the recommendations of this IMF report detailing how governments can gain the trust of their citizens and get them to buy in to the reforms. |

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is just a lending institution. The federal government should not regard the IMF as an expert on Nigeria's economic affairs. |

“Realizing this opportunity requires rethinking reform strategies, to build and maintain pro-growth coalitions among constituent leaders and the general public. This will require greater attention to communication and engagement strategies, reform design, compensatory measures, and rebuilding trust in public institutions”.In principle they are saying be productive whichever reform you choose. Prioritize and incorporate productivity into your reforms. Dont just be spending on empty projects. White Elephant projects. |

“Fair and transparent management of public resources; A strong governance framework that fosters trust in government and in its ability to adequately implement policies—including by promoting transparency, increasing accountability, strengthening the rule of law, and controlling corruption—is a precondition for public backing of any reform strategy.Word for those with ears. |

No wonder we are seeing multiple appointments for the Public Communications. The cost of these reforms seems more than its benefits to the populace, at least in the short run. |

Bobloco:India implemented the exact same policies Nigeria is carrying out. India removed fuel subsidies and increased taxes among other measures. Go on ChatGPT and tell it to compare Tinubu’s policies with Modi’s. I did, and it’s virtually a carbon copy. |

The Balablu man shouted SUBSIDY IS GONE and some foolish citizens clapped for him Now their eyes are clear and red from suffering and hunger Gradualism should be the best approach to these reforms while also rolling out substantive palliatives that will reach all nooks and crannies of the country |

| Re: Rethink Reform Strategies, IMF Advises Nigeria by Bobloco: 11:49am On Nov 19, 2024 |
Napata77:Yes, both removed subsidies, but their approaches differ. Tinubu removed fuel subsidies by making a thoughtless and senseless statement: "Subsidy is gone," right on his swearing-in podium. In contrast, Modi did not make such a reckless statement. Instead, he gradually removed fuel subsidies in India, transitioning to market-linked pricing to curb fiscal deficits and promote efficiency in the energy sector |
