It's important to note that the proposed removal of VAT will not have a significant impact on the overall situation. The tuition fee for a student is N200,000, and the VAT charge is N250, making the total payment N200,250.

The main reason for discussing the removal of VAT is that Nigerians are tired of propaganda and empty promises.

Seriously, will that help the current hunger ?
No. But it'll be something. If they really want to help, there should be subsidies on things like inhalers and insulins.

This are things that should have been done before the subsidy and naira floating policy.

Unfortunately, nothing will work until we go back to status quo and then carefully build from there

They keep engaging in rigmarole, taking side steps, and running in circles.

Bring down the cost of fuel to below N200 per liter and ensure that the naira-to-dollar exchange rate is not above N450 to a dollar, and watch the inflation rate begin to reduce automatically
Where will the money to pay subsidy of N1,000 per litre of fuel for about 50 million litters per day come from and where will $21 billion per annum to fix the exchange rate comes from?

I also hope know that that fixing exchange rate is the same as subsidising the dollar, which means you’re subsidising imports.

You think it is so easy without Subsidy?

And where will you get the money from to subsidize fuel and dollars without Nigeria going bankrupt when Nigeria is already neck deep in debts ?

There's no money for subsidies, but there's money to loot and engage in frivolous and extravagant spending, such as acquiring a new presidential aircraft, buying a new all-black armored Cadillac Escalade SUV, and discarding the Mercedes Benz Maybach S-Class that Buhari used. There's money to buy a new presidential yacht and to fund senseless trips abroad, visiting hospitals in the UK and France for medical check-ups, yet they failed to build a world-class hospital in Lagos despite claims that they built the state from scratch.

Yes we know how corrupt they are but subsidising fuel and dollars plus other existing Subsidy on Electricity is going to cost trillions of naira plus other debts that Nigeria need to service and low revenues and other cankerworm of corruption at all level of government and sectors, it is just a matter of time before Nigeria enter bankruptcy.

If you are not benefiting from the loot, don't make excuses by claiming that subsidizing petrol will bankrupt Nigeria

If you are a literate you would know what i'm saying is the truth.

Subsidizing petrol is going to be in trillion and it will just keep that sector underdeveloped, with Nigeria dwindling revenues from crude oil, debt servicing, mismanagement of funds here and there. There's no way Nigeria won't go bankrupt and unable to pay even common salaries.

You won't know the benefits of removing fuel subsidy now, give it 3 years more you will understand. For Nigeria to move away from one place, Subsidy on petrol need to go.

When other refineries come on board and Dangote refineries is working at full capacity you will see the figures Nigeria will be churning out.

What is being looted from our treasury is much more than what is required to subsidize petrol. So why hasn't the country gone bankrupt?

Why must there be excuses when it benefits the poor?
