you are mixing up becoming an officer - which requires you go through NDA, which has a very very corrupt and patronage ridden admissions process with entering the nigerian army as a grunt. everywhere in the world, recruits - the cannon fodder are disproportionately drawn from the poorest of the poor. unless you country has suddenly been attacked by an enemy - and you are suddenly imbued with vengeful patriotism - you don't see people rushing to sign up.

in addition to this, unlike countries like the us, or the uk - military service at that level does not really come with benefits like that [ i stand to be corrected] . so the people who will jump at it are you poor abokis who have nothing going for them.

Obviously. The army internal investigation is not going to yield anything that will favour the victim

For context, the army officer involved is a Major General; He is just a step below the acting Chief of Army Staff in rank(A lieutenant General) . There is no way in hell they will throw the major general under the bus for a "bloody civilian".

The best bet is for the victim to just get a good lawyer, sue the army and hope he gets something substantial as compensation for the beatings. That's the only form of justice he can get in this matter.
