Since you intend collecting your caution fee, when you're moving out is when you should have taken the agent/landlord with you to inspect the apartment for final evaluation.

That's when you two should reach a conclusion. What evidence do you want to base your claim on now, especially now that the place has been repainted?

Is the agent that's in custody of the caution fee or the landlord?Agent is only entitled with agency or facilitator fee

The agent can't authorize the refund of ur caution fee as it wasn't paid to him rather the landlord/landlady,that's why I advice clients to take pictures or do a detailed video of an apartment before moving in and after moving out as well.

Once you pay caution fee and wants to park out it's gone not minding if the house is in order or not...
Best option park out with something equivalent to the amount you paid as caution fee let them use the fee to get a replacement..
You can auction it at worst half of the amount and you will not lament for losing all your money...

Except you want to waste money, how do you plan to get money from agent that doesn't own the house, besides I have never gotten back back my security deposit, once it's paid, it's gone.

The police will initially tell you they will help but after paying them for transport, booking and stuff, they advise you to just let it go.

Like, it was my first, he was like, if I don't send money I should come and carry him from their cell, I was still in the process of tracing the stolen goods oh, by the time I was done, I have spent over 300k for goods of 3 million, the seller and buyer could only raise 300k, by the time I factor in time, money I spent that period I was at a loss, they said I either take what they can pay or charge them to court, guess what, I would be the one to pay for COVID TESTING, TRANSPORT TO AND FRO THE COURT FOR BOTH CRIMINAL AND POLICE, It mighty take 6 months for the case to be persecuted, until tell I will pay and once they are pesecuted, they goes to prison and I get Zero refund😂😂😂I dropped the case, took the L and move on.

Police will bill you
Lawyer will bill you

In my view forget the caution fee and move on . It doesn't make you a weak man ...majority of those thst claimed to be strong are all dead

Get a good lawyer

Go to your state independent and corrupt practices office and report him.

Since you got another apartment through your place of work..why did you get or look for someone or your friend or colleague that was in need of a place to rent and live to take up the house and then he will pay you back the rent and caution fee you already paid

Take them to court and they will pay you double plus legal fees

Just walk away. I experienced that in Asaba when I was relocating to Lagos. The landlord refuse rorefund my caution fee (#150,000).

I was already in Lagos when I told me staff to move my things, after that I demanded for my refund and the landlord refuse on the ground that the outside wall was stained and there were stain on the pop ceiling due to water leakage which was not my fault.

See the picture of the outside wall, it was a foot print of a stray cat. He said I need to repaint the entire house in and out before he will refund. I just walked away.

any agent just mention that fake fee I will just tell them to not worry. It's a scam. There's no way anyone can live in a house for year without there being changes. The paint can even peel on its own, door handles can stop working if you give anybody that money they'll always be able to come up with excuse
