Please what aspect of tech can easily put food on the table from or in Nigeria. With this economy, I don't see people seeking the services of a data analyst and I don't think a foreign company will trust a Nigerian with their online security remotely for those who talk about cybersecurity. |

Nazgul:i am tired of seeing these questions. I consider them lazy and really refraining myself from calling it stupid. Truth is, you don't even have to be good. I saw 3 internships on hotjobsnigeria last week. Just be building and be on the the look out and you'll get it. Or you can just start learning mechanic as AI is taking over every tech jobs. ![]() |

Karleb:The reality here is that most Nigerians going into the tech field do so with the hopes of securing remote jobs. So yes you'd have to be good at What you do if you want foreign employers look your way. You talked about seeing internship jobs. The question here is how much do Nigerian tech companies pay interns and entry level recruits? Most would peg you at a gross pay of 150k and use you for multiple roles. I know someone who got a job as a full stack developer guess his pay... 250k. What can 250k do for you in this economy? Some companies would not hire front end or back end developers, they'll hire full stack developers and pay them the same pay (or even less) for handling both roles. Cybersecurity guys are the worst. Cos no company in Nigeria would hire you as an entry level recruit. You'd have to be a genius before employers would even look your way. This is why you have to be good at What you do so that you can get a remote job. Cos once you start earning in dollars, no matter how small, our exchange rate would amplify it for you and you'd find yourself earning 20times higher than your colleagues who earn in naira. |

My advice to you is to just start. People said the same when I started learning tech back in 2020. They said there were no jobs, that there was no need for web developers that Wordpress would overtake everything and all. Thankfully I boned everybody and did my thing. Learning to code was the best decision I ever made for myself. Leaving Nigeria was the second. The money I used to leave Nigeria was the money I made from coding. I didn’t sell lands or borrow money from anybody. Anything your mind is set to do, go and do it. Failure is better than regret. |

Nazgul:I love your assertion on this. It's a good push! Thanks. Do you have any advice for someone who aspires to learn machine learning and deep learning? |

tensazangetsu20:Quite inspiring. Please I'd like to ask, did you self-learn these skills or you had to attend a school to get them? |
| Re: Is Tech Still Selling In Nigeria? by tensazangetsu20(m): 8:17pm On Nov 20, 2024 |
DestinedForGrea:I learnt everything myself. |

tensazangetsu20:That is interesting; it makes me curious about your journey. I mean: What inspired you? How long did it take you to build and become good at it? How much of your day did it take? Was there anytime you got discouraged and wanted to quit? Were you working and learning at the same time, or just learning? Did you have any prior experience in computer sciences before you began your tech journey? You learnt it yourself, what were the things you did to make your self-study effective? Forgive me for these questions. I'm about to start my tech journey, with Python, machine learning and deep learning on the table for me. I don't want to have any sense of doubt about this. I have zero tech experience, but I believe I can learn the affore-mentioned skills and master them. I think I just need a good kick to get things running. |

DestinedForGrea:Machine learning is a data analyst tool. Even python. My advise would be for you to learn data analysis comprehensively. So you'll know how and when to use each tool to get your desired result. Good luck. |

jasena:Foreign companies allow ethical hackers from Nigeria pls, learn coding then switch to cybersecurity and start penetration testing for foreign companies. You can get paid as high as $100k once for critical vulnerabilities like RCE, SQLi |
