redcliff:Empty noise maker, you are a local tout. Who dash you Benin Republic sef talk less of outside Africa? OBJ can only be idolised by you ignoramuses. We have granddads who were his schoolmate set in Ogun State along with MKO Abiola, Awolowo so many other Ogun illustrious sons. It is our heritage. Not yours. We know who/what OBj is about first hand. You busybody Osus should learn to mind your business. A lot of Yorubas detest OBJ to the core for valid reason yet you homeless vagabonds are the ones always flying his worthless kite. Why is OBJ not in Yoruba Hall of fame like Abiola, Awolowo, Bola Ige, Gani Fawehinmi, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Tai Solarin etal? Abi you know OBJ more than his people? Maga. |

seunowa:So eulogize Abacha to your heart’s content, but you’re only entitled to your opinions & not the facts. Through out Abacha’s time at the helm, Nigeria suffered under heavy sanctions imposed by the UN & the West. The same were increased by the killing of Ken Saro-Wiwa, and made worse by the assassination of Kudirat Abiola. If that is what u call favorable economic conditions, maybe u should have a chat with ur parents on what monkey dey work baboon dey chop really means. You think the late Gani Fawehinmi & NADECO members were just online keyboard warriors?? Dey play |

tete7000:100% correct talk. No fan of Atiku but OBJ is guilty of worse than he accused Turakin Adamawa (aka Atiku) of. OBJ is nothing but a false prophet with a messiah complex. "Non shall be greater than me while I am alive". The only ex President alway attacking all after him, as inadequate, is OBJ. The greatest Yoruba and probably Nigerian leader ever was Awolowo in terms of giving transformational value to the people. OBJ did his best to destroy and frustrate that noble man. Go figure. |

Bobodee09:You guys should stop masturbating on issue. Yes, OBJ approach to politics during his time were do or die affair and everyone know this and aside that his government also wasted a lot of money on power sector with little result to show for it. His government also heavily monetized the national and state assemblies, no doubt. If these three issues are taken away from OBJ's regime, his government were more focused and at the top of their job unlike all the governments after him. The economy were more robust and having a futuristic look than what we have today. We should not forget that the same OBJ inherited a dilapidated and almost broken Nigeria but he came and never complained about what he met on ground but assembled capable hands that truly weathered the storms for the country. I asked this millennium question in the morning. Should all the problems created by OBJ still persist till date? The same issue they are raising against OBJ, those issues are still much with us and even more prominent than when OBJ was president. The do or die politics is still very much with us. Monetization of National and State Assemblies is still much with us. Much more money is still been expended on power sector till date with less improvement. Why was it difficult for successive government to do something about those issues but they have all come to compound the situations? We just need to stop shifting blames, let those elected to bring changes own up to their maladministration and inefficiency instead of blaming a man that have left government for close to 17 years. 17 years is not 1 or 2 years, a child born 17 years ago is now a father or mother. The present government surrogate should stop blame game, as it would not help the country at all. They have failed in the last one year and they just need to wake up from their slumbering. Meanwhile, OBJ built road in South West and even commissioned it. See an extract from the link attached. https://allafrica.com/stories/200408100440.html "Lagos — There is going to be an unpresidented upsurge in economic activities between the South-Western part of the country and the North, following the completion of the Ife-Ijesha Road dualization project, commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo, penultimate Friday. The commissioning, which was witnessed by the Governor of Osun State, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and his Deputy, was hosted by the Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe". We are more in cherry picking his bad side than the all the good things he did for the country and not just his region but for the benefit of the whole country. As at today he is the most nationalistic president we've ever had. |

sammiewrite:Mr. Man, you're not a realist at all. If dwelling in the past is your major occupation, then, you're a failure personified. OBJ left office 17 years and some months ago but you people are still saying because of this and that he did is still the problem we are facing today. It means the nation have not progressed since he left office. I thought the purpose of a governor is to build on the successes of previous government and discard their failures or at best fine-tuned them for the overall best of the country. Well, there's no gainsaying that OBJ's regime is still the best regime this country have witnessed. No doubt there are pockets of maladministration, like do or die politics, monetization of National and State Assemblies and corruption in power sector. But all in all our economy still fair better than the dungeon we are in today. |

IfnobeGod20:What you're trying to say is that, despite conceding that Obasanjo used to be everything he is now condemning today and maybe even worst, we should just overlook this glaring hypocrisy because of your bias for him, and instead focus only on the ills of the current and immediate past government? If I get you correctly, you mean it is only you and your camp that can grant clemency to whoever you want but others can't? Sorry, my bad. I guess I should have understand better when you guys would always reference Wole Soyinka for every cult related killings in Nigeria because he formed the first confraternity, but referencing Obasanjo role in our current state as a country is where you lots draw the line. And for your last paragraph - well, ignorance, just like wailing, is a constitutional right. Fuel price under your Obasanjo more than 3x. And it was under your Obasanjo's regime that Idris Abdulkareem sang Nigeria jaga jaga. |

olisaEze:Obasanjo contributed to the mess the country is today. He re introduced corruption as president. Election rigging was his brainchild that other president after him, except Yaradua continue. He could not give account till date of 16b dollars he said he invested in power sector. Go and listen to fela song ITT and learn more about Obasanjo atrocities as even military head of state. To me you appear to be the dumb. Maurice iwu till date remains the worst INEC chairman and it was under Obasanjo regime. Obasanjo has no moral right to condemned Tinubu who is also not doing well too. He and Atiku built private universities as sitting public office holders and mandated governors of pdp and business tycoons to donate. |

Adophus Wabara Ayim Pius Anyim Chuba Okadigbo Only one president used them. Several electoral malpractices. Late president Yar’adua confirmed this. Destruction of all federal tollgates instead of digitizing payment collection. Award of many federal roads several times without fixing them. Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was allegedly awarded many times by Obasanjo. Bi- Courtney is still alive. Standard gauge railway contract awarded and billions of $$$$$$$ stô!en in his regime. No single train was working under baba. No be Buhari come start the project? 2nd Naija bridge nko? Ajaokuta deal wey go wrong nko? Who know wetin Yar’adua see wey make am cancel the deal when he took over. Major subsidy collector No balance of trade. Na so so import import until 2023 when T-pain started him own reform. Sale of over half of federal government properties to himself - Transcorp and some power companies. Power epilepsy and embezzlement of billions of Dollars meant for power sector reforms Canceled local government autonomy All edged sponsor of many electoral unrest (if you know, you know). Lots of political silencing in his regime Ask Bola Ige’s family. No single arrest or prosecution till date. Unlawful detention of political opponents. Selective prosecution of ex governors. Fuel queue every 5 market days because our refineries are not working. Jamboree CONFAB and billions of Naira wasted on a report that no masses saw or even read the Table of Content of such report. Boko boys were already bòmbīng their way to central Nigeria and we couldn’t stop them. Grossly under founded military to tackle insurgency. And this has caused many of our farmers to stop or leave farming. The list is endless. That baba. He is too envious. He doesn’t want his record broken. Meanwhile, record is meant to be broken or shattered. He 8s T-nubu and Fayose till tomorrow because they stood their ground against his style of governance. Soyinka nko? Fela family nko? Tinubu would be happy removing fuel subsidy because of baba. He never wished MKO Abiola well. Ask Rashidi Ladoja what Obasanjo did to him. He was all edge to have influenced Babangida to take state capital to Osogbo, instead of Ile-Ife. Atiku knows him well, the way he knows Atiku well. Atiku is only keeping quiet because of his political ambition. He knows baba can scuttle his plans. Ask his divorced wife. She would tell you who that Kasongo is. Obasanjo should have ruled with fear of God and make Nigeria a greater country because he was sentenced to kpai and God almighty brought him out. This is someone who has ruled before in 1977. You are not new to presidency. You came in 1999 and only sought debt forgiveness and felt like a macho man. If Abaxha had not delete and MKO kpaied, Abaxha would have kpai baba nah. |

sammiewrite:Mr. Man, thankfully in my comment i did admit some faults of OBJ during his regime. The fault such as do or die politics, monetization of National and State Assemblies and corruption in the power sector. I never see OBJ as angel and I won't see him as one till tomorrow but issue must be placed in perspective and not see a spade as a spoon, instead of agricultural tool. I asked this millennium question since morning. Has the do or die politics died done? Has monetization of National and State Assemblies gone? Are more money not expended on power sector till date? If all these questions are still rearing their ugly heads, it means every successive governments come to your the same line and they were not there to reshape and improve the system but to just fulfilled their own ambition. If the purpose of government is to do for the people what they cannot ordinarily do for themselves but if as at today, we are still singing the same song of what OBJ did wrong 17 plus years ago and at that there is no improvement on those things, then, the country is in a big mess. Meanwhile, it baffles me that some of you are comparing the economy of OBJ's regime to this Tinubu's regime. That's tantamount to comparing sleep and death. Yes, OBJ met fuel price per liter at #20 and as at May 26, 2007 the price of fuel per liter was #65. It was on the May 27, 2007 that he increased it to #75, just two days to his handing over to Yar'adua and in less than a month, Yar'adua took it back to #65. Now, are you comparing the increments between #20 to #75 in 8 years of OBJ to less than two years of Tinubu where the fuel price has gone from #145 to over #1,000 in a country where the purchasing power of the people have gone so low. Eating one square meal is difficult for some people. It was during OBJ's regime that our inflation was one digit and since then we have not experience such. Bag of rice was less than #4k then but today a bag of rice hovering between #80,000 to #120,000 depending on your location and the exchange rate wasn't more than #125 as at 2007 but today the exchange rate is almost #2,000 while he met it at #450. Only untruthful person would descend low to want to compare a robust and futuristic economy OBJ to a dead economy will have today in Nigeria. In all indices, APC government in the last 9 years have failed the nation. Idris didn't sing that song because of famine or hunger but he sang the song because of the political killings of that time but records have it that in the history of Nigeria politics, 2015 election recorded the highest number of deaths. Curiously the same Idris sang a song to drag Tinubu to the floor as a result of the biting economy, which was worst that the jaga jaga he sang during OBJ. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/06/eedris-abdulkareem-drags-adeboye-tinubu-others-in-new-song-emi-lokan/&ved=2ahUKEwjx-aXHpuyJAxVSVUEAHak9L5gQFnoECCQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw39WzFXP_CxgjaC1obwfjjN It is best for Tinubu and his supporters to own up to their maladministration than shifting blame than a man that fair better in his administration. |
