The family put the dead in the car and not the hotel staff. After what the family and friend said about his illness, you still want police to arrest the staff? 😕
Cases against death are usually the FG vs any suspect, including family members.... The family members have no legal right to contaminate crime scenes...

The detectives should have arrested the hotel staff at that point. They've tampered with a possible crime scene so terribly to the point of moving the corpse, I'm sure they also cleaned the room and disposed of every foreign object in it. Nigerian law and enforcement have a long way to go in forensics.
You're right about forensics - the problem is that it doesn't currently exist in Nigeria police. If it did, the police would have sensitized these hotels on what to do in these situations. Given that, and the fact there's no prima facie case of foul play, an arrest here would be an overkill.

..it's the drugs and traditional medicine that he took that killed him

She stated that the deceased’s brother, Jimoh Godday, residing in Imota Town in Lagos State, informed the police team that his brother had arrived in Nigeria from the U.S. on Saturday.

"He mentioned that he had called him (Abidoye) on Monday, and after not getting a response, he visited the hotel

“He also said, after knocking the door severally, he requested a spare key from the hotel manager to enter the room, where they discovered his brother’s lifeless body.

From this story, i don't think there's any foul play, but autopsy should be conducted

He probably died from drugs overdose
Are you serious? No foul play? The part of the story that his brother came on Monday, and collected the key from the hotel staff didn't arouse suspicion? How could the hotel staff trust a stranger who claimed to be the victims brother? On what basis did they give him access to the victims room? The hotel staff should have opened the door themselves if they suspected the victim was dead. They would lock the room and call the police immediately. No one should be given access to that room.

Generally, small Hotel business is a very risky business in Nigeria, even for the staffs working in such hotels because of such incidents. If you want your peace of mind, don't venture into it, not even an AIRBNB.

People that need Hotel accommodation should go to the likes of Sheraton.

It's either the writer is a very poor one or there is really something fishy about the man,s death.... Writers narration points to that exactly.

I was thinking the same thing. Hotels should educate their staffs on things like this.

Never rule out any possibility in matters like this.

If you're a regular visitor to Nigeria and you live abroad. Please do yourself a favour by building or buying a house in your location in Nigeria, in a place not known to your known family members. Enter yejelly and depart jeyelly. This is for the security and safety of your life and that of your family. You may even build in the city to stay and charter a cab to see your family members in the village, unannounced. Then welcome your parents to wherever you stay in the city each time you're in town.

Again, stop carrying girls when you are in the country cos many of them are evil. They're on a mission to kill and destroy. They can expose you to their male cohort to harm you. They often look innocent but run, run run.

Hotel workers too always commit crime using cctvs to record your activities of guests secretly. How can you be security conscious in a country you live abroad and throw that in the wind when you are in Nigeria where you can hardly trace a scene of crime or link same to anybody. D-Rovans Hotel in Ibadan easily came to mind. It used to be one of the best hotels in the city for returnees and all manner of high profile events back in the days. The hotel is no more today, due to heinous activities taking place in that place. There was a time a retirnee was killed and all his dollars were taken by the owner of the hotel who was watching his activities via a cctv.

Please be careful

Why add "US Returnee" in the heading on the first page. Person wey return from US no fit die again?. Some people have been known to die inside the plane sef...

This man has been sick a long time. Western medicine in US could not help him, so he came back home to try Trado medicine.

Unfortunately he overdosed on the wrong concotion, alone, in his hotel room. His family were aware of his condition.

CASE CLOSED.
Re: Sunday Abidoye Found Dead In Creestar Hotel, Sagamu, Ogun State by WriterX(m): 11:27am On Nov 22, 2024
The entire crime scene has been contaminated, why would they move the body for God sake?

It makes it very suspicious, why would they do that, that crime scene has been tampered with.

They need to conduct a medical autopsy, ask for his medical reports and try to ascertain his well being before returning back. Find out about the drugs. And draw up a time line of all the events starting from the point he went to the airport and returned to Nigeria.

If it's murder it will be obvious.

Npf and double standards....the story of the security guard that was mauled down by dogs in lekki,I pointed it out that the police refused to release the name of the victim and the owner of the dogs in their preliminary statements but in this case you can see the names and even the hotel where it happened and this info alone can go along way in getting leads for the police in their investigation....but the one without adequate info can be easily swept under the carpet without anything coming out of it.

You sure say you read the tori well?
Besides, what do you know is his achievement? Abi American returnee na achievement?
With the way we Nigerians look at things, very soon people will avoid relatives and friends that come abroad. Let them stay on their own before people accuse them of jealousy.
