EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Thursday May 23, 2019, secured the conviction of four internet fraudsters.

Three of the convicts - Alimi Azeez Oluwadamilare, Paul Opeyemi Omotunde and Igberase Hope Odianosen – were tried in the Federal High Court, Abeokuta Division, while the other, Okuneye Opeyemi James, was tried at the Ibadan Division of the court.

Alimi, an NYSC member, and Omotunde, a 2019 graduate from the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), were convicted and sentenced to four months in prison by Justice Ibrahim Watilat of Federal High Court 1, Abeokuta.

Also in Abeokuta, Justice Mohammed Abubarkar of Court 2 jailed Igberase for four months. The trio were re-arraigned on a one-count amended charge of criminal impersonation.

Besides sending them to jail, the presiding judges also ordered that they refund sums of money, in United States Dollars, to their respective victims as restitution.

All items recovered from them during their interrogation are equally to be forfeited to the Federal Government.

In the same vein, Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan sentenced Okunoye Opeyemi James (a.k.a. James Kosta) to four months in prison.

The 24-year-old was facing a one-count amended charge bordering on fraudulent impersonation. The court also ordered him to make restitution of the sum of N889,995, being benefit he derived from his fraudulent act.

He is similarly to forfeit one Iphone 7, and one Huawei handset to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Bad news is regular news...only in Nigeria. Our country has a beautiful name but it's one useless place.

the thing with thse useless boys making efcc have a field day is them always pleading guilty. why not hire a competent lawyer to defend you and most times the cases are trashed out afterall os that not what most of our politicians do and drag their cases for years.

good radiance to bad rubbish
to those supporting yahoo, if u support yahoo n rebuke armed robbers then u are a fucking hypocrite. cos the last time I checked a yahoo boy steals with Tech n am arm robber steals with guns so they both steal. so by supporting yahoo, it means if one day u are robbed u can't report to the police cos u have no case cos u want us to blame govt right?

n another perspective to this is that, now that u all want someone who validates crime to b freed, what if someone validates kidnapping n ritual killings openly tomorrow, I guess he should b freed too? meaning we shouldn't fight boko Haram again since nobody holy pass n we are all sinning? all I realize is that all those validating crime don't know d long term implications

When caught with solid evidence, they are encouraged to plead guilty and get their sentence reduced. Do we even have a parole system in this country I doubt

Lol

This one sided Justice sef...As usual, fighting the symptoms and not the disease.

Boys never chop you say make dem no press lappy...
yahoo yahoo will never end in Nigeria as long as the children of the rich and influential people are working in big companies while the children of the common man are roaming the streets to survive with no source of livelihood.

Yusuf Buhari that is riding and crashing bike worth 20 million, what does he do for a living??

To totally stop corruption in Nigeria, our leaders (political yahoo men) have to be stripped of their immunity clauses if found wanting and quickly secure their convictions just like what EFCC is doing to yahoo boys, if not Nigeria will remain in this sorry state in the next 50 years...God forbid.

Not by chasing small boys with laptops around when an outgoing Governor is allocating the sum of 6 Billion to complete a non existing airport.

Mr. Magu (Mugu), shey if oyibo dash me money and I collect am, is that a cyber crime??

Internet fraud seems to become norms these day. The legislative arm of government is very easy to catch the vunerables but the main suspects who pushes the fraudsters to the crime are moving freely in the street
