Many people were not aware that the cards were available for collection because when you go to their site they will say it not available or it is not ready. Besides was there any announcement that they were ready ? |

After scamming Nigerians, you still want to collect their money, keep your cards |

But come to think of it, why's a document like the National Identity Card having an expiry date, if the sole intent of this gimmick is not thievery and mass exploitation? |

Y'all are robbers, cutthroats and sellswords. You guys deliberately made Biodata Entry be a staff thing instead of allowing the hundreds of millions to enter their bio themselves. The aim for such was to input as much errors as possible so that when time for corrections come, it will be your fraudulent cash cow moment. To change DOB, etc is 16k. Are you guys having loose bolts upstairs? It looks like you're tired of withholding what triggered all this cheating and fraud and you're confident to tell us what we already knew from onset. Nigerian Agencies and making willing citizens to suffer because you want to hide behind the "job provisions for IT staff" something that should have been optional for everyone, esp aged folks that are not tech savvy. What a pyramid scheme. |

This is completely false; I captured in 2013 and only to be told to wait for 10 year before the plastic card is ready. I went back in 2020 and only to be told I had to wait till 2023. I went in 2023, only to be told to visit another state to pick it. They never issued the plastic Id cards to Nigerians promptly and they hardly send SMS or email when it is eventually ready. How can they make it legal to delay printing ID card for so long that it became a norm to use the paper slip. They charge from N1500 to N2500 to get a PDF version on your NIN. Imagine. I wonder how much they'll charge for the plastic now. Way to go anyway. |

SmartPolician:Its a big lie.....did they inform d people that cards are ready? Why is it people collect PVC bt fail to collect national identity cards? Answer is simple,INEC put in money n effort to distribute d cards.NIMC doesnt send sms or keep u informed bt expect u to magically collect a non existing card |

Another trick to exploit people again. They've made provision for less privileged while the rest people are expected to pay for it. I'm wondering how they're going to determine who the less privileged are. Just those kind of phrases they add so as to create loopholes for stealing and still not do the work. Watch as some people will pay and still not get their cards, and some will still bribe in the process. May God help us. |

It's even the poor journalism being displayed on a regular basis in Nigeria that is my concern here. After all the hullabaloo and long story, the journalist could not bother to ask or find out what the cost would be? Commonsense dictates that the report will include the estimated or stated cost of the card or if it has not been fixed state,it should be so stated that no price has been fixed, but no single word on that! |

SmartPolician:Who didn't bother to collect? Many of us waited in vain for ID cards that were never seen. They produced them and dumped them in their offices. And now want to blame Nigerians for their ineptitude. |

SmartPolician:You're wrong. They were not uncollected because of the paper ones or that they don't need it. People get tired of queing up every day unsuccessfully to collect these cards. Even when government said it's free, ppl still paid to even be registered. You'll pay for the form. Pay to be captured. Also pay for collection of the slip. Government should make the procedure easy for people. |

SmartPolician:I think it's quite the opposite. A lot of people who enrolled for NIN couldn't get their cards. I did my NIN about 3 years ago and till date only the NIN slip and the digital card is available to me, which I paid for online and printed the card myself... NIMC isn't being truthful here, they are generating revenue from change of name, slip printing, online verification etc, these are things that Nigerians pay for daily, you have to PAY online to access these services. I know how much I have spent on these things. |

Merchandiservic:They have the data and phone numbers of all these people who are yet to collect their cards, have people been informed that their cards are ready? Did they notify them by sms or email? If people aren't picking up their cards, it's majorly because they don't know. They are just looking for excuses to generate more revenue. They already generate money from slip printing, digital NIN, change of name, change of data etc... To me, they are just deceiving the public! |

SmartPolician:The card itself is practically useless hence the reason the collection wasn't taken seriously. If the card was tied to several important use such as voting, debit, etc. It might have attracted better chance of collection rate. |
| Re: Why Nigerians Must Pay For Their National Identity Cards - NIMC by grandstar(m): 3:27pm On Nov 22, 2024 |
Racoon:Some you just want to condemn. Stop judging. He said millions of cards were produced and were left uncollected. Do you want them to make millions more free which would go uncollected? If the international passport was free, even a dog would apply. If you pay for the card, there's a very strong likelihood you'll collect it. As already been mentioned, the NIN slip is sufficient for most people. |
