Why don't you go back to the historic agreement that was made? Why is US so keen on having a partial control of the military and weaponry of all the countries around Russia? Why would you try to intimidate a world power? This war is a proxy war. If I was Putin I wouldn't be this patient. After all, sanctions are already on ground. There was no war head on those missiles.

It was purely kinetic impact due to the high terminal velocity of the missiles travelling through the air and impacting on the surface.

The bright glow around the missile is a plasma shield created by the missile on the surrounding air it was travelling through at Mach 12 (11 times the speed of sound or 9,600km/hr).

The missiles were not ICBMs as first thought but hypersonic MIRV rocket and engine propelled missiles that had multiple travel phases during its flight path within the lower atmosphere. ICBMs reach a peak flight aporgee of about 1,200km above the earth surface . This MIRV missiles travelled at much lower orbits and at the same speed as ICBMs.

This is causing real fear in the west because NATO relies on an array of satellite constellations to detect ICBMs during their high altitude climb and glide phase. But this missile travels within the earth's atmosphere making satellite detection impossible. Radar are ineffective in detecting it as well because the plasma shield created by the missile with the atmosphere it travels through, bounces radar pulses away from it making the missile invisible to radar detection.

The Americans invested heavily on air platforms and their naval fleet but Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union concentrated on missile technology so much so that Russia has a seperate branch of the military dedicated solely for missile launchers and deterrence.


Now imagine the Russians strapped on a conventional war head of 500kg explosives on each of those multiple missiles .

The kinetic impact of the missile will make a 500kg explosive war head ten times more powerful.

Now strap on a tactical nuke and you will get to see why the Americans are all jittery.

This is just a tip. We haven't even considered Russian Samart missiles aka SATAN ICBMs that carry up to 15 individual nuclear missiles that detach in re-entry that are all equivalent in blast yields to the Tsar bomber - think 200kilo-Tonnes.

Then there's the Russian Poseidon UAV submersible that can dive deeper and remain underwater indefinitely which can be remotely programmed to move towards any enemy coastline and detonate forming a tsunami of radioactive cobalt water hitting any coastal city. One Russian UAV nuke sub can take out the entire British isles and have it buried under 300ft of radiated sea water.
