Imagine the kind of hatred this people have for igbos. It's scary

Yoruba leaders are explicitly showing their hatred for igbos yet no Igbo leader find it worthy to counter these lies told by yoruba propagandist

Igbos are endangered species in Nigeria
Is it not the truth about igbos not selling land for non igbos ?

This stadium is a stone throw away from my house and one of the biggest mansion in my community is owned by a Yoruba man.

Yoruba people don't travel much within Nigeria so what they know is what the media sold to them.
Reuben Abati is just a wicked Yoruba man just like Dayo Onanuga he knows what he said isn't true.

Everyone including the great writer CHINUA ACHEBE said in his book "THERE WAS A COUNTRY " how the igbos started tribalism and nepotism.

Even the educated suffer the same Igbo phobia. Ruben has always been like this on Igbo issues for eons. People who don't know much about Abati, should go back to read all he wrote about the Igbos during the regime of Olusegun Obasanjo. At a point , he was boasting of how Obasanjo will cut off the head of Igbos if Uwazuruike didn't stop his MASSOB agitations. The whole thing raised a storm then. . These are all closet tribalists.

Land is costly in Igbo land because land is scarce. It is what it is. I am not sure of any Yoruba man willing to drop over 200 million to buy a plot of land at Nnewi. There are no real Yoruba presence in the east. You can not stay in Lagos or Okitipupa and be upset that the cost of land is high in Igbo land. Most of your guys in the east, live in groups like the northerners because of the high cost of accomodations. That you're out priced does not mean you are banned from buying.

Reuben Abati's PhD is wasted education.

Why?
The current senate president had praised the Igbo during the events related to the burial of an Igbo senator who died recently. He said among other things, that Igbos go out to develop other parts of Nigeria and that other Nigerians do not do quite the same. That the said late senator was a true representation of the Igbo spirit.

Then, Abati was asked to respond to the senate president's comments on his TV program. Abati, after other kinder words about the Igbo, retorted that, according to TOS Bension (A Yoruba political leader who was born in 1917 and died in 2008) that Igbos don't sell land to strangers. That TOS had wanted to buy land and build a house in his Igbo wife's village and that the villagers had told him (TOS) they don't sell land to strangers. Abati went on to affirm his own opinion along the lines that Igbos go out and buy properties and build elsewhere, but do not sell land to others.

Now, Abati claims to hold a PhD. To obtain a PhD anywhere in the world, including in the local university from where Abati obtained his, requires conducting research for at least 3 years. In Nigeria, it takes longer. In most cases, such research involves conducting statistical analysis using sample populations and establishing margins of errors based on the sampling population size. Abati regurgitated the unproven claim made by TOS about his wife's village (one village) and extrapolated that to cover more than 30 million Igbos living in thousands of villages and towns and cities. The inability of Abati to conduct his own research and to gather data from a representative sampling of Igbos on the matter makes his PhD null and void. That he even believed what TOS Benson said in the 1960s or 70s or 80s, or 90s (whenever he had said it), and repeated it in 2024 makes his case even worse and deserved that his alma mater asks for their certificate back.

Assuming one Igbo village does not sell their land to strangers, how is that an Igbo-wide culture that should be linked to other Igbos?

Pray tell, the Redeemed Church, Deeper Life church, Living Faith church, and numerous other churches own properties across nearly all Igbo villages, towns and cities in Nigeria. These churches are private churches owned by Yoruba individuals. The church lands were sold to the Yoruba owners by Igbos.

GTB, Wema Bank, FCMB and a few other banks in Nigeria are 100% owned and managed by Yorubas. These banks have branches in Igbo towns and cities. The lands were sold to them by Igbos.

Polo Mall Enugu and the Onitsha Business School are owned by Yorubas

GLO Mobile is owned by a Yoruba. GLO has offices in Igbo cities. The lands where these offices are located were sold to GLO by Igbos.

There are 1000s of Yoruba who own private properties in Igboland. I personally know one in Umuahia.

I can go on and on. How come Abati does not know this? How come Abati cannot conduct simple research before bleating out on National TV in 2024 that Igbos don't sell land to strangers?

Abati is not only ill-educated, but he is also a bigot, because only a bigot can take an incidence by one person and extrapolate it to all persons related to that offender. Worse still an uncorroborated incidence that was said to have happened decades ago.

Abati was specific when he cited TOS Benson in that story. It is really apparent we have an education crisis because people find it difficult to listen and analyse, they just want drama all the time. I think Abati also sees that it's a waste of his time trying to explain a story that was already explained by the person he cited.

Yorubas only became relevant in national politics because of the civil war when Awolowo was called to join the Gowon government.
Even after that yorubas were pushed into opposition politics(which is what they know how to play by the way) till 1999 when Obj took over,so what are you talking about

Is he lying? Everything hatred, address the issue.

Nobody has said there isn’t land for sale to outsiders in ibo land but unlike other areas of Nigeria, there are certain categories of land family land and communal land that they will not sell to outsiders even fellow ibos. Is that a lie?

Whether it is cultural or not this is a fact.

There is no igbophobia. You people just get unduly defensive and sensitive.

No Ibo man will deny that most land in Ibo land is ancestral or community land. The difference between the Ibos and most other places in the country is that Ibos won’t sell these categories of land to outsiders even Ibo outsiders whereas in most parts of Nigeria they will sell communal or ancestral land to no indigenes. After all what are omoniles selling if not communal or family land?

Instead of you to say this is our culture, land is sacred and to us so we dont sell ancestral or communal land to outsiders but there are other categories of land for sale. However because most land is ancestral or communal the land available for sale can be expensive… simple!

The reason why you can’t do that is that you go to other peoples area and disrespect their culture so it is hard for you to say the reason why land is difficult but not impossible in the SE is a cultural one.

The reason why this is an issue is because you have disrespected other people’s traditions and cultures in your travels and cohabitation with others therefore it becomes difficult for you to say with full chest that this is a cultural thing when in fact there is absolutely nothing wrong with not selling land to outsiders if it is rooted in culture or beliefs. The Hausa do not apologize to you for introducing sharia or marrying teenagers, it is their culture, the Fulanis defend their right to roam with their cows, it is their culture. If you had just done that, most non Ibos would and indeed do understand because we know it’s a cultural thing. Again you can’t defend your practice and culture because you habitually disrespect other peoples traditions and cultures. So instead you say igbophobia and other diversionary comments.

The truth is we all have our cultures and practices. You don’t respect other peoples cultures so you are now finding it difficult to defend this.

Ordinarily an Ibo man should be able to say with full chest and the pride the Ibos are known for “according to our culture, it is taboo to sell communal or ancestral land to outsiders, the remaining land is scarce therefore expensive…….it is our culture end of story. Please try and understand but if you don’t then go and hug a transformer.”

You can’t because you have consistently and habitually shown disdain and disrespect for the traditions and cultures of your hosts on your travels. And that is all there is to it.

What Ojy did was to deflect, when she should have used her position ans an Ibo with a platform to enlighten. Instead she played the victim card. Shee couldn’t for reasons I have explained in a previous post above. Instead she tried to to railroad Reuben and turn him into a bad guy.

Fact remains he did not lie and most land in SE is not available for sale to outsiders even Ibos. He did not state anything Ibos and the rest of Nigeria do not know

She should have used her position to explain but she couldn’t because of what her people have been doing to other people.

Most land? Are you sure about this that MOST land are not sold to outsiders? That's a big fat lie I can tell you.
She wanted Abati to clarify that he was not generalising about all Igbos. That's what she wanted and it's obvious from the video but Abati stuck to his guns and you can see he even claimed that he put a context to it which means he was also stylishly saying he never generalised.
So your treatise above is way off the mark. I don't know how you got to know that Ojy was ashamed to clarify by herself
