As Donald Trump prepares to assume the U.S. presidency once again, reports of a potential executive order targeting transgender individuals in the military have raised alarm among the LGBTQIA+ community and human rights advocates.

According to sources cited by The Sunday Times, Trump plans to issue an order on January 20, his first day in office, to medically discharge transgender individuals currently serving in the U.S. armed forces, deeming them “unfit” for duty.

This controversial move echoes policies implemented during Trump’s first term but goes further in scope.

Previously, the former president barred transgender individuals from joining the military while allowing those already serving to remain.

This time, however, reports suggest that currently enlisted transgender personnel—estimated at around 15,000—could also face expulsion.
