A lawyer who can afford to relocate to the west with the current exchange rate isn't a small lawyer.

In a surprising turn of events, a renowned Nigerian lawyer has shut down his practice in Akure and relocated to the UK, where he now works as a cleaner in a clothing store.

This news was disclosed by a human rights lawyer based in Ondo, Bolanle Cole, who expressed deep concern on the matter.

When you live in a country that weaponizes poverty, food becomes the number one factor in decision making for the citizens.

How can a people occupied with the thoughts of what to eat have time to fight the system when 10k is enough to cause division in the midst of the masses?

One year and seven months after making sure that BAT won in Ondo state, he ran away. He made sure that he contributed to make his fellow Ondo people suffer hardship and then he ran to a country where humans live like humans.

Una dey see life? BAT never show una finish.

Anything that puts food on the table at the end of the day is most important. No shame at all.
Of what use was his chambers without paying clients? And what happens when he’s unable to renew rent?
These are facts you mentioned..... I have been running my company for 8 years now..... Omooo it's not beans at all..... The saving grace I have is that I have had retainers all these years and I do trading on the side.... Which keeps things afloat.... I would have gotten up and leave but don't want to fail my 3 staff I have trained for years..... Outside my family I see them as my younger siblings.....When they good to fly on their own then I will leave...

Your post is right. But we need to read between lines a senior lawyer can afford anything he want in Nigeria but the learned colleague chose the part of shutting down his chamber due to his wife persistence the reason to Japa. Fear woman.

through the *influenced* of his wife.

Influence or influenced?

WTF is "influenced"?

You who is mocking someone and who is also an acclaimed lawyer, should be the one cleaning.

It will continue. Whoever takes over from Tinubu will be worse off. I'm beginning to understand why people like that lawyer, fold their bags and baggages, pack and run away.

Just a stepping stone for him . He will work towards his registration as a lawyer in the UK. You should know that he knows what he is doing. At least he needs to start somewhere in the UK. Cleaning jobs is not his priority. He will definitely work as a lawyer.

Probably because he wants to earn an honest living. Living in Nigeria is too deadly and not for the upright. The upright CANNOT achieve their full potentials there, they can at best live from hand to mouth. You must be dirty and criminal to live a normal/good life in Nigeria. Call me anywhere and I will tell you.
Re: Japa: Senior Lawyer Shuts Down Chamber In Akure To Become A Cleaner In The UK by ArcSEMPECJ(m): 1:29pm On Nov 25, 2024
My friend as well who is a Senior lecturer and lawyer with his chambers also left all that, relocated to be working as a cab man and health equipment delivery man....

Although he is a citizen of America anyway but that didn't go well for me....

The judicial system of Nigeria took a bad turn as from 2015....
Rendering many Lawyers as people without directions....
Politicians that didn't see the four wall of the University talk more of Law School ,now decide the fate of lawyers in a government case and not the other way round...

This is normal as a new entrant. You will need to study and get accustom to how things work then you can easily apply for a professional and well paying job.

I worked as a bar tender in Manchester United when I just got in UK before eventually securing a job with Halifax Bank and then Lloyds Tsb Bank.

There’s dignity in Labour. Be focused and hard working you will make it eventually.
