When you check other major currencies since 2021/2022, I could agree that the market was over-collateralized but Russia was also part of that market, and they would have been affected as well. Since 2021/2022, most major currencies have lost about 15% of their value. So, when you subtract the average 15% loss in value from the 60% decline of the Russian currency, the war effectively accounts for a 45% drop in its value.
45% is not beans for a 1st world economy, however you are being disingenuous with timelines

Stockmarket bottomed Dec 2022

From 1st Dec 2022 to now, CAD is down 8%

1st Dec 2022 to now, Yen is down 10%

1st Dec 2022 to now, Ruble is down 70%

Neither CAD nor YEN have imposed capital restrictions prohibiting the sale of their currency umpteen times, neither have 21% interest rates (Japan 0.25%, Canada 3.75%) and neither have spent $80bln of their Sovereign Wealth fund

Someone is running at full speed while the other two are strolling and dusting him handsomely.

Not in the middle of a war.
In Russia of all places.

Peacetime and wartime economic performances are appraised differently by the local population.
You know this.

Your countrymen coined the "Keep Calm and Carry On" maxim.
During existential wars, even democracies have a high tolerance.
NATO operators in Ukraine are firing weapons that are killing Russian civilians in Russia.
Let that sink in.

I can assure you that if Russian operators in Mexico were firing weapons killing American civilians in America, Americans will not revolt over 21% inflation.
Replace America with any first world democracy and it'll be the same.
Heck, Japan will suspend their self-imposed pacifism.

There is nothing existential about the war in Russia

As far as the average Russian is concerned, a fly has not touched Russia because even the small attacks Ukraine have launched is blacked out in the media.

Russians are simply under lock and key with no independent media to rile them up about the price of goods as they would be in an open society

Most times I struggle to understand what exactly is Reno's motivation for doing all those nonsense he does online. I mean does he get compensated/renumerated for setting the tone for ethnic rivalry via his hate filled posts or what?

This guy is not even from any of the major tribes but makes it a duty to always set up the tribes to go into bitter arguments. Today he says he's a pastor and tomorrow he's spreading hate on the internet. The crazy thing is that he doesn't even stop by posting those stuff on Twitter, he posts them on a professional medium like LinkedIn and you will see people making comments with their professional page giving approval to his line of thought 🤦‍♂️

You are right that education doesn't do much when it comes to common sense
I stand corrected, Reno is an Itsekiri man, but I never see him write extensively about the marginalization of his people, particularly in the hands of the Ijaws in Delta politics.

The SS is front center of the Nation’s hope of economic recovery but Reno never talks about it, particularly as it relates to his people. Throughout this week, @Disstroy has been doing a terrific job at showing us 2025 budgets of states in the SS region. One would expect the likes of Reno to jump on it and ask question. No, he would rather expend his energy pushing distasteful bigotry amongst Nigerians.

It’s one thing to chase content, it’s another thing to be stupid while doing it. Despite his education, he isn’t any different from DJ Chicken or Omolalomi.

This is where I call it a day.

Resorting to Cold War-era talking points in 2024 to bolster your position is my cue to disengage.

How can you say the average Russian is unaware that Ukraine has scored even one successful hit in Russia in over 2 years of War?
I expect that from boomer rednecks not a lettered person.

This is funny. The guy for explain tire when he face school senate.

This reminds me of when I mailed a complaint to IKEDC over the disparity in units given to different prepaid users who paid same amount. I got 44 units for 10k, while a neighbour got 152 units for 10k.

They wrote back and asked me to provide my neighbour's meter number. Mtcheew....I ignored them.

Governor Umaru Bago has approved a proposed budget of N1.20 trillion for the year 2025.

During the Executive Council meeting held by the Niger State Government on November 26, 2024, a draft budget estimate of N1.20 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year was put forward for Council approval.

The Commissioner of Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo updated the Council, stating that the budget estimate consists of N188.42 billion, which accounts for 15.68% of recurrent expenditure, alongside N1.01 trillion, representing 84.34% of capital expenditure. He noted that when this estimate is compared to the approved budget for 2024, it indicates a significant increase of 32.94%.

This should be criminal! I read about how he intends to fund it and it's loans with no IGR.

At #1.01 trillion budget for Niger State alone, it's almost the combined 2025 budgets for Cross River, Osun, and Ekiti which are more viable based on the numbers.

Why are we keeping mute on this? Social media should be on fire. Collective destinies are being mortgaged away.

Just a quick reminder that Niger Delta Governors have been presenting their 2025 budgets for weeks now 'quietly'.

Akwa Ibom presented #955 billion today.

Delta presented #932 billion two weeks ago and was upgraded to #976 billion this week without fanfare.

Rivers would present before the end of the month or by the beginning of December.

Notice how your favourite influencers for hire are not discussing it, and the states' executives and legislature are all chummies now with budgeted monies about to go Houdini?

Each state with a budget of almost #1 trillion. Are you asking questions now? Are you digging into what the allocations for education and roads are? Are you concerned about the overhead costs which is a huge drain on our common patrimony?

Notice how it's all hush hush from these guys? These are the real enemies truncating our developments even at state levels. Please go ask questions now. Get your influencer buddies who still care about not only their pockets to ask questions.
I'm worried about the budget breakdowns for overhead cost.

Ask questions now or all our "oyel money" would fund the luxury lifestyles of BBN girls.
It's more than just Tinubu.
They will leave the Governors, LG chairmen buying cars, houses for girls and sending them on all-expense paid trips to Dubai, because of agenda and drag the President for even the faeces they can't pass.

I like how the local governments are said to now be in charge of their funds. They are the closest to the people and their performance will be felt positively or negatively. They must be accountable to the people.

Before he leaves the office, Tinubu should ensure the states and LGs are more powerful and make the central less-attractive to those scam-artists that have their eyes on the national cake. With that, Nigerians will gradually understand that the Governors and the LG chairmen are with the knives and their cakes and stop barking the wrong tree.

One thing u should understand is that a governor getting dragged/called out online is a function of the number residents/indigenes of the state with social media presence online. (most especially opposition party members with online presence)

It is the residents/indigenes of those states that usually set the tone for discussion before people of other states will pick interest and join in dragging that particular state government for their actions and inactions. And yes this applies to all states.

When u see people dragging governors of states like Rivers, Lagos, Kano, Akwa Ibom, etc online, it's simply because the residents/indigenes of those states have much online presence compared to other states, the opposition members in those states are active online and always scrutinizing the actions and inactions of the state govrnments. Once they set the tone for discussion, it is then the regular social media user can decide to pick interest in discussing the state.

Even the traditional print media don't focus much on states like Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, etc except it's news bordering on insecurity issues or electoral matters. Nobody is under obligation to start using torchlight to look for Yobe state news, Kwara state news, etc.

Well, my opinion on this is that two truths can coexist. A person can criticize his state government and at the same time criticize the FG if he feels he's not getting the best from the two levels of government. I will give a practical example to this.

For example we have a man who is into Importation business resident in Lagos ; he brings in cars via the ports officially, clears his cargo with millions of naira (which a major source of revenue to FG as confirmed by Customs) and sells his cars in a car lot owned by him in Lagos.

Such a man is within his rights to call out FG and or Lagos state government if he believes he's not getting good governance from both levels of government. Why? Here is why :

1. Each time he brings in container load of vehicles he pays customs duty and other associated fees/rates to clear the goods at the port. These millions he pays is source of revenue for the FG and anytime he hears VP residence is renovated with 21 billion naira he has every right to drag FG &to express his dissatisfaction with such actions . Anytime he reads news of the FG appointing 11 different people to do the job of spokesperson/media aide to the presidency, he has every right to be enraged that the government is wasting scarce resources on frivolous things. Nobody should tell him to face his state government when the exchange rate and import duty exchange rate keeps going higher thereby frustrating his business.

2. The moment the man clears his container from Apapa port, he will have trucks transport his cargo to his car lot. On the way the trucks will pay different forms of fees to revenue collectors who collect these fees on behalf of the state government. Even local governments have their own revenue collectors who will "cut ticket" for the truck drivers. All of these are cost to the businessman and revenue to the state government. Now the guy pays land use charge to Lagos state government for the car lot where he sells the cars which is also another revenue to Lagos state government. Even local government will come to his car lot to collect various rates as required by the law. If his business is duly registered by CAC there's a high chance LIRS will call at his place to get what is theirs by law.

After a businessman pays all of these, he is within his right to be enraged when he reads on media that the Lagos state government buys air fresheners and rechargeable fans for ₦3.75billion. Nobody should gaslight him and tell him to go back to his state the moment he raises questions about how any of the state government's frivolous spendings. He should be able to make videos of roads in his areas that needs repairs in his area but continues to suffer neglect despite the humongous IGR of the state. Nobody should be telling him balderdash about having an agenda against the government for political reasons.

These are the issues.
