iamoyindamola:So you don't think there should be deliberate policies around immigration? She got into the UK as a kid, she's an adult now and is making adult decisions for the society adult Kemi wants to live in...that her parents possibly got in through lax immigration laws doesn't mean she'd want such in the society she now knows to be hers. |

vanitybutiwanti:What are you arguing about? How else would Niger State fund the #1 trillion plus budget if not through loans? You should see the debt record and antecedence of reckless borrowing before you go on the defence. You should know I wouldn't state these things without checking these anecdotes. Most of the criticisms of public officials are misplaced? You should have your head examined. This gaslighting, unearned hubris, and assumption of faux superior internal intelligence of how the governance system works is why people like Femi Adeshina are still the most despîsed persons to ever stride the corridors of power till date. |

BlueRayDick:Nobody is under obligation to hold the federal government responsible too, but we do it for public interest. The point is, for years our search beams have been ultra-focused on the Centre, and it works sometimes causing it to backtrack on some anti-people policies or shelve them all together. Governments at state and other levels should be held accountable too constantly. It depends on people active online in each state? It'd do a quick analysis you can go vet anywhere. There are 34 million people in Nigeria active on Facebook on the average monthly. That's more than the entire population of Ghana and about 100 times the total population of Iceland. Active users on Facebook alone! No Nigerian state has less than 100,000 active monthly Facebook users at the least. At the very least. Less than 10 percent are directly affiliated with any political party. We have the numbers even as far-flung as Kebbi to keep each state government on its toes and our criticisms enough to generate interest globally even if 20,000 of the (taking a rough estimate here) 100,000 Facebook users resident in Jigawa hold the state government accountable. It's about willpower. Ask internet users to vote for some entertainment program or comment on some happy-go-lucky online controversy and you'd realize the Kebbi you think is digitally an island has the estimated numbers online. |

vanitybutiwanti:You know the funny thing about folks like you is your selective amnesia just because of crumbs you're getting from politicians. You think wasteful and corrupt spending of govs started in Nigeria in 2024? Let's start from your state. The first gov in 1999 got a perpetual injunction against prosecution immediately after he left office. The one who took over after him bought a private jet before he left office. The next one, who happens to be your god was so profligate he openly boasted off buying for all aspirants from the state in an election. That said, it's ironic you mentioned Tinubu. That's the first gov who gave himself an humongous pension when he was leaving office. He was about the most flamboyant gov of his set and that was a set that included the likes of Ibori, Alams, Nyame, OUK etc. All these names including Tinubu have multi-billion naira corruption case files with efcc till today. Billions in 1999 o not 2024. Yet you have no problems with those guys. Your problem is 2024. Who do you think are the influencers of 2024? |

Theflint1: ![]() Upon all the attacks on Buhari, man completed 8 years with his toothpick. Amaechi said it all. You left those you should be throwing stones at, in your catchment areas, embarking on a fruitless exercise of cyber attacks on a President who is used to such and even mocked himself. ![]() We should engage our Governors and Chairmen, and not run to states whose Governors have been more responsible over the years and put immense burden on their infrastructures and budgets. |

airmark:Let's even leave the federal government for a minute - and this isn't exempting it of any blame. Trunk B roads are horrible! Internal roads are a death trap, and it also contributes to inflation. Last December, Itsrm complained he bought four udara (because it's not African star apple or any apple at all) for #500 in Port Harcourt. Around the same period, a Tiv acquaintance from a remote part of Benue State where the fruit is in abundance mentioned it is wasting there. To get to Port Harcourt, you go through Benue > Cross River > Akwa Ibom > Rivers. Moving from the interiors of Benue to any part is hellish - horrible roads which would also ruin trucks. Somehow you get through and the connecting road to Cross River is bad. Cross River internal roads are horrible too. Making it to Akwa Ibom is a nightmare as the Calabar - Itu road is horrible. Between Uyo and Port Harcourt is a way better experience, and you'd easily move your way around Rivers. Imagine how cheap the fruit would be in Rivers if Benue and Cross River Trunks B and C roads were motorable... Yet Cross River and Benue indigenes and residents are very active online but do not hold both state governments just as accountable. It's about willpower. There's no excuse for us. |

DissTroy:Can you read Hausa? If a Jigawa or Gombe man on Facebook write about government policies in his state can you read it? You are not seeing Jigawa related news trending on Facebook and twitter simply because they converse mostly in Hausa and you as a Southerner can't read Hausa Language. That's why it will not trend as much as you would expect. People focus more on FG because we obviously don't practice true federalism in Nigeria. The federal government takes the major stake of 52.68 per cent from the federation account. And the 36 states with 774 local governments are left with 26.72 per cent and 20.72 per cent respectively. You will agree with me that the figures justify the Ultra-focus on the center right? |

Theflint1:I no even understand the need for him to jump on a plane to Paris. Funny enough his travel expenses will be on the state government's account for a trip that is highly unnecessary |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 2:14pm On Nov 28, 2024 |
airmark:So it's state governors and LGA chairmen that our criticism will prevent them from completing their 8 years abi? Continue criticizing people's criticisms. One would think you'd lead the charge or join effort with other state government critics, but that's not important to you, you're saving all your criticisms for Peter Obi that's not in government and those criticizing Tinubu. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 2:15pm On Nov 28, 2024 |
BlueRayDick:I guess he was part of the entourage to Paris, and got there before Tinubu, so he automatically became part of the welcome party. |

Theflint1:So will the FG pay for his travel expenses since he's part of the entourage or it is the state government that will chest the bill? Because I'm sure as hell that they definitely won't travel in the presidential jet with T-Pain |

vanitybutiwanti:Hypocrite You have more than soft spot for Wike. You literally worship him. You've called out Fubara so many times on this platform and you just did now. But you're making rules for others to follow to qualify before calling out other politicians. You called me out because you saw Zamfara gov's convoy and ride. I showed you that there's a context to it which is that the thieves you worship today started it in 1999. Yet you're still foaming at the mouth. I've told you. I don't care for any politician but I know that it is those who hold the levers of power that can do the most damage to our national life not those out of it. It is foolishness to excuse Tinubu, Wike, Oshiomole etc today and focus on Atiku, OBJ, Obi etc who left power over a decade ago. It is more sanctimonious to claim that we can't get anyone better than those there now when those who are there criticised others harshly when they were out of power. As citizens, it's your job to hold govt accountable. Someone like you can't do so in your state because you expect a former gov of your state to hold the sitting gov accountable to himself at the detriment of the state. That's your grouse with fubara. If he had accepted to continue to do Wike's bidding including when to poop and when to cry, even if he was packing Rivers money and using it to light a fire to keep himself warm, you'll have no problem with him. You're such a darn hypocrite |

vanitybutiwanti:LOL. Jobless? That was a good one. I wouldn't brag about that part, but I'm good. Anyway let me be specific: Last week Wednesday, there was a Colloquium held in honour of former state govenor of my state. I delivered a keynote address about checking impunity and demise of good governance in Nigeria, particularly at state levels. Present were digitaries are the highest level. Last November, I helped organise it too. If you dig around, you'd find the details. ![]() Before then - and I mentioned it here, I presented a paper on the Host Community Development Trust Fund (HCDTF) of the Petroleum Information Act (PIA). I'd update you on one planned within the next week soon. I do not just write about these things - I am actively involved in them. And I tell these people with these powers to their faces and virtually too. Now what have you done specifically to hold government accountable? ![]() |
