where did he opine that he was going to fund it with loans? Nobody is borrowing above the permitted threshold, below is an image of his budget performance for q1 - q3 2024, he passed a humongous budget for 2024 but was only able to achieve 30% implementation due to the funds available to him, budget is different from expenditure. Most of the criticism on public officials in Nigeria are misplaced and borne out of ignorance. Same thing is happening in Abia and other state, Alex passed 500b in 2024 but has only been able to achieve 34% budget performance. Only exception is Rivers state and Lagos state with an 80% budget performance for 2024 due to the surge in IGR, Rivers is now averaging 30b monthly in IGR and a combine revenue of over 60b when you add FAAC, for an 800b budget for 2024, Rivers is on course to acheiving 90% budget implementation for 2024, lagos will likely surpass its budgeted figures for 2024.

[b]Please you guys should criticize from a place of knowledge, don't criticize for criticism sake.
What are you arguing about? How else would Niger State fund the #1 trillion plus budget if not through loans?

You should see the debt record and antecedence of reckless borrowing before you go on the defence. You should know I wouldn't state these things without checking these anecdotes.

Most of the criticisms of public officials are misplaced? You should have your head examined. This gaslighting, unearned hubris, and assumption of faux superior internal intelligence of how the governance system works is why people like Femi Adeshina are still the most despîsed persons to ever stride the corridors of power till date.

BlueRayDick:
One thing u should understand is that a governor getting dragged/called out online is a function of the number residents/indigenes of the state with social media presence online. (most especially opposition party members with online presence)

It is the residents/indigenes of those states that usually set the tone for discussion before people of other states will pick interest and join in dragging that particular state government for their actions and inactions. And yes this applies to all states.

When u see people dragging governors of states like Rivers, Lagos, Kano, Akwa Ibom, etc online, it's simply because the residents/indigenes of those states have much online presence compared to other states, the opposition members in those states are active online and always scrutinizing the actions and inactions of the state govrnments. Once they set the tone for discussion, it is then the regular social media user can decide to pick interest in discussing the state.

Even the traditional print media don't focus much on states like Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, etc except it's news bordering on insecurity issues or electoral matters. Nobody is under obligation to start using torchlight to look for Yobe state news, Kwara state news, etc.
Nobody is under obligation to hold the federal government responsible too, but we do it for public interest.

The point is, for years our search beams have been ultra-focused on the Centre, and it works sometimes causing it to backtrack on some anti-people policies or shelve them all together. Governments at state and other levels should be held accountable too constantly.

It depends on people active online in each state? It'd do a quick analysis you can go vet anywhere.

There are 34 million people in Nigeria active on Facebook on the average monthly. That's more than the entire population of Ghana and about 100 times the total population of Iceland. Active users on Facebook alone!

No Nigerian state has less than 100,000 active monthly Facebook users at the least. At the very least.

Less than 10 percent are directly affiliated with any political party.

We have the numbers even as far-flung as Kebbi to keep each state government on its toes and our criticisms enough to generate interest globally even if 20,000 of the (taking a rough estimate here) 100,000 Facebook users resident in Jigawa hold the state government accountable.

It's about willpower. Ask internet users to vote for some entertainment program or comment on some happy-go-lucky online controversy and you'd realize the Kebbi you think is digitally an island has the estimated numbers online.

You know the funny thing about folks like you is your selective amnesia just because of crumbs you're getting from politicians.
You think wasteful and corrupt spending of govs started in Nigeria in 2024?
Let's start from your state. The first gov in 1999 got a perpetual injunction against prosecution immediately after he left office. The one who took over after him bought a private jet before he left office. The next one, who happens to be your god was so profligate he openly boasted off buying for all aspirants from the state in an election.
That said, it's ironic you mentioned Tinubu. That's the first gov who gave himself an humongous pension when he was leaving office. He was about the most flamboyant gov of his set and that was a set that included the likes of Ibori, Alams, Nyame, OUK etc. All these names including Tinubu have multi-billion naira corruption case files with efcc till today.
Billions in 1999 o not 2024.
Yet you have no problems with those guys. Your problem is 2024. Who do you think are the influencers of 2024?

Me I like focusing on one thing per time, so I've made primary focus FG...and I'm sure there are many others that have made that decision too, we should be allowed to cool.

People like you that think there's not enough criticism going the way of state governments should champion it, it's a noble cause, it's better than shedding tears that people are focusing too much on FG.

We should engage our Governors and Chairmen, and not run to states whose Governors have been more responsible over the years and put immense burden on their infrastructures and budgets.

They will leave the Governors, LG chairmen buying cars, houses for girls and sending them on all-expense paid trips to Dubai, because of agenda and drag the President for even the faeces they can't pass.

I like how the local governments are said to now be in charge of their funds. They are the closest to the people and their performance will be felt positively or negatively. They must be accountable to the people.

Before he leaves the office, Tinubu should ensure the states and LGs are more powerful and make the central less-attractive to those scam-artists that have their eyes on the national cake. With that, Nigerians will gradually understand that the Governors and the LG chairmen are with the knives and their cakes and stop barking the wrong tree.
Let's even leave the federal government for a minute - and this isn't exempting it of any blame. Trunk B roads are horrible! Internal roads are a death trap, and it also contributes to inflation.

Last December, Itsrm complained he bought four udara (because it's not African star apple or any apple at all) for #500 in Port Harcourt.
Around the same period, a Tiv acquaintance from a remote part of Benue State where the fruit is in abundance mentioned it is wasting there.

To get to Port Harcourt, you go through Benue > Cross River > Akwa Ibom > Rivers.

Moving from the interiors of Benue to any part is hellish - horrible roads which would also ruin trucks. Somehow you get through and the connecting road to
Cross River is bad. Cross River internal roads are horrible too. Making it to Akwa Ibom is a nightmare as the Calabar - Itu road is horrible. Between Uyo and Port Harcourt is a way better experience, and you'd easily move your way around Rivers.

Imagine how cheap the fruit would be in Rivers if Benue and Cross River Trunks B and C roads were motorable... Yet Cross River and Benue indigenes and residents are very active online but do not hold both state governments just as accountable.

It's about willpower. There's no excuse for us.

Can you read Hausa? If a Jigawa or Gombe man on Facebook write about government policies in his state can you read it? You are not seeing Jigawa related news trending on Facebook and twitter simply because they converse mostly in Hausa and you as a Southerner can't read Hausa Language. That's why it will not trend as much as you would expect.

People focus more on FG because we obviously don't practice true federalism in Nigeria. The federal government takes the major stake of 52.68 per cent from the federation account. And the 36 states with 774 local governments are left with 26.72 per cent and 20.72 per cent respectively.

You will agree with me that the figures justify the Ultra-focus on the center right?

So it's state governors and LGA chairmen that our criticism will prevent them from completing their 8 years abi?

Continue criticizing people's criticisms.

One would think you'd lead the charge or join effort with other state government critics, but that's not important to you, you're saving all your criticisms for Peter Obi that's not in government and those criticizing Tinubu.

what exactly are you on about? Which fomer or serving governor in Nigeria is not a billionaire ? Is Tinubu single handedly responsible for the rot in the public sector in Nigeria? All of us are hypocrites including faux critics like you who worship and promote characters like Atiku, obi and others who were once public office holders In this country. Now Tambuwal, El Rufai, kwankwaso, Atiku, saraki, obi, Amaechi and others are being urged on to take over power from Tinubu, are these characters also exempt of corruption? Sim Fubara has started accumulating wealth for himself and his family but to you buffons because he is fighting an individual you hate, you turn a blind eye to his abuse of public fund, as long as you have soft spot for a mainstream politician in Nigeria, you have no right to call out Tinubu
Hypocrite
You have more than soft spot for Wike. You literally worship him. You've called out Fubara so many times on this platform and you just did now. But you're making rules for others to follow to qualify before calling out other politicians.
You called me out because you saw Zamfara gov's convoy and ride. I showed you that there's a context to it which is that the thieves you worship today started it in 1999. Yet you're still foaming at the mouth.
I've told you. I don't care for any politician but I know that it is those who hold the levers of power that can do the most damage to our national life not those out of it. It is foolishness to excuse Tinubu, Wike, Oshiomole etc today and focus on Atiku, OBJ, Obi etc who left power over a decade ago. It is more sanctimonious to claim that we can't get anyone better than those there now when those who are there criticised others harshly when they were out of power. As citizens, it's your job to hold govt accountable. Someone like you can't do so in your state because you expect a former gov of your state to hold the sitting gov accountable to himself at the detriment of the state. That's your grouse with fubara.
If he had accepted to continue to do Wike's bidding including when to poop and when to cry, even if he was packing Rivers money and using it to light a fire to keep himself warm, you'll have no problem with him.
You're such a darn hypocrite

D grin you're still spouting bullshiit, I just provided you with Data of his 2024 budget performance, budgeting is different from expenditure, get that into your dense skull, because He passed a budget of 1 trillion does not mean he's going to spend 1 trillion in 2024, Alex otti passed a 500b budget in 2024 and he has only done 34% of the budget he passed as of q3 2024, Bago has done only 30% of the budget in terms of performance of the budget he passed in 2024. The problem with jobless and woke individuals like you, you talk about things you know nothing about, because criticising government in Nigerian seems to be a fad, semi illiterates like you want to criticize government to sound woke even when you dont understand the fundamentals. The other time people who had zero idea about how PMS or gasoline was being produced, erroneously propagated the narrative that NNPC was not refining crude in The old Port Harcourt Refinery, unbeknownst to them PMS or gasoline is not a direct derivative of crude oil, and in standard Refinery process, other core derivative has to be blended to achieve PMS or gasoline production.
LOL. Jobless? That was a good one. I wouldn't brag about that part, but I'm good.

Anyway let me be specific: Last week Wednesday, there was a Colloquium held in honour of former state govenor of my state. I delivered a keynote address about checking impunity and demise of good governance in Nigeria, particularly at state levels. Present were digitaries are the highest level.

Last November, I helped organise it too.
If you dig around, you'd find the details. smiley

Before then - and I mentioned it here, I presented a paper on the Host Community Development Trust Fund (HCDTF) of the Petroleum Information Act (PIA).

I'd update you on one planned within the next week soon.

I do not just write about these things - I am actively involved in them. And I tell these people with these powers to their faces and virtually too.

Now what have you done specifically to hold government accountable? smiley
