Decision of Adeleke to relocate airport to his home town is selfish. Adeleke just want the airport relocated to Ede to benefit his family so that they can easily land their family aircrafts to ede close to Adeleke university. All the reasons the technical committee cited are baseless and induced. It is amoral for Adeleke to cite such to his home town in ede. If truely it is due to technical issues, then relocate the airport to neutral ground like Iwo or even Osogbo for fairness instead of citing it in his own town after spending lots of money and compensation by previous administration. Adeleke should just tell us he wants the airport to benefit Adeleke University, Davido, his father and others that have their aircrafts. Adeleke, this is serving self-interest and not public interest no matter how your influenced technical committee paint the relocation |

When you politicize virtually every aspect of economy, merits are thrown out of the window. On a norm. I like to believe that when it comes to sighting a proper airport anywhere, there are some key factors to be considered, which would include: Quick and well linked Accessibility to other parts of the state, hotels, restaurants etc... How many of this does or can Ede boost of? (I don't know, I am only asking). I know Oshogbo has this. I any case, it's best to sight first airport close to the center. |

kunle4toyeyaho:Stop defending the indefensible! It's on public knowledge that Fayemi packed Ekiti money and went to invest it on a private university in Ghana. That was when he ran from OBJ administration and pick up teaching job as a lecturer in Ghana. It was in Ghana he conceived the idea of building a university because many Nigerian pupils were denied university admission by JAMB. This is to public knowledge. Therefore, stop being political by denying what's within public space. |

PayEscrow:What you said is not true. It is is the airport that actually attract hotels, restaurants etc to the area. The moment the airport construction starts people will also start building hotels , restaurants etc around it. MOST hotels around airports comes after the airport not before. One of the essence of the airport is to develop the area. Airport can also be sited anywhere as long as the terrain is okay for example not too much of mountains. |

Aside Ekiti which was created in 1996, Osun is the poorest and most backward state in the South West. How an airport became the priority of people who mostly don't have access to quality and affordable healthcare, education, potable water etc is a wonder. 99.9% of Osun indigenes will never use the airport. Politicians are only plunging their states into debt over projects that serve only their selfish interest |

WHAT A NEPOTIC FOOL.... The IGBOS, and Igbo brazen self-centerdness always put at play in Osun state by the Ede people, and fronted always by the Adeleke family. They are Always seeking private interest over public one.... He, the governor has no morality, no education, no civility. NO WONDER HE WAS WITH Obasanjo recently...... |

Moving or relocating an airport, which successive administrations have invested so much money in, to your own hometown is nothing but an act of nepotism; it's a shade of everything wrong, Mr. Adeleke! By the way, isn't Osogbo the capital of Osun State? I wonder aloud because it seems like everything is eluding that town! |

Another white elephant project loading, either sited in Ido osun or EDE, it's another way to waste scarce resources, of what benefit is the airport to ordinary Osun people, the only benefit is to the elite and the Adelekes to fly their private jets direct to Ede instead of taking the road to or from Ibadan Airport which is around 45 km to Ede/Osogbo. We've not learnt anything in this country, waste of resources while we are still borrowing. Why not use the money to reconstruct the bad roads in the state. Elitist mentality everywhere |

Oshogbo is 1hr 30 mins away from Ibadan. That cleared, osun state doesn't need an airport. How many people in sound state travels by air. Even Ibadan airport that was opened in 1982, has been dormant, with festus keyamo approving its upgrade to international. So, with wasted tax payers money, the government will start a project and not finish it. With over 29 airports in Nigeria, only 6 are viable. Of which only 3 are international standards So, why waste money building an airport that won't be viable economically and add more burden to FAAN and other aviation organizations? After building, you will hand it over to the Federal parastatal that is already having problems with nonviable airports Look at Ilorin, how many flights take off from there? Look at Ibadan too. Only Lagos and abuja seen to keep up the pace Pootle: |

Rahkman:yes now so that they can fly forward. the roads aren't good enough it slows down their progress hence an airport would do better. if traveling abroad has turned an achievement in Nigeria and is now CV worthy then owing an airport is an achievement for every state. only in Nigeria. |

Clarification on the Status of the Airport Land in Ido Osun - Kunle Adegoke (SAN) Prominent Legal practitioner and a former Gubernatorial candidate in Osun State, Kunle Adegoke has weighed in on the controversial Airport relocation move by the PDP/Adeleke Administration The legal luminary while responding to a post on a Whatsapp platform said, “I have observed some misconceptions being circulated regarding the use of the airport land in Ido Osun and its purported allocation to the Nigerian Air Force. It is essential to set the record straight for the benefit of the public and to avoid any further misunderstanding. “The claim that the airport land in Ido Osun was earmarked for an Air Force base is incorrect. The Nigerian Air Force initially considered the location but later rejected it because it is not strategic to have an Air Force base situated beside an airport. Based on this consideration, the Air Force base was relocated and is now situated in Osogbo, near the Osun State University (Uniosun). “As it stands, no Air Force base is being sited in Ido Osun anymore. The airport land remains intact and is more than sufficient to have an airport constructed on it. “It is crucial to rely on verified information to avoid spreading inaccuracies, especially on matters of public infrastructure and development. The potential of Ido Osun’s airport land remains viable, and its prospects should be a focus of positive development efforts.” — Kunle Adegoke (SAN)

Cruzmaster:on paper ? Yes but in today's Nigerian reality, how far ? How many airports in Nigeria today are viable apart from Lagos, Abuja and maybe Port Harcourt and how developed are the surrounding communities ? My original complaint is about the noise pollution planes constitute but let's set that aside. Using Omagwa community that hosts the Ph international airport as an example, apart from access road, what fantastic development has the airport attracted in the last two or three decades ? Even the airport hotel there is in shambles and that's a major airport in Nigeria. The truth is that you don't need an airport to attract infrastructural development as long as different arms of government do their jobs of which monies have already been budgeted and disbursed already especially in the State and LGA cadre. Good roads and transportation services especially inter state buses and railways will go a very long way. I wish many nigerians will have the opportunity of travelling to Europe and Asia to see what's on ground so that this idea of worshipping bastárd politicians will be disposed of once and for all. Any airport project now by any state government either APC, PDP or LP is an avenue to loot the state Treasury to stupor and it won't benefit you or anyone in the state |

Omodua:Did he hold any public office in Ekiti before 2010? OBJ had left office before Fayemi became Governor in October 2010, how could he have packed Ekiti money during OBJ time? Fayemi holds PhD in war studies and he is a lecturer to many universities outside the shore of Nigeria,so how does taking up a salaried job amount to owning a university? What prevents you from submitting a petition to the EFCC since you are privy to how he packed Ekiti money to establish school? |

kunle4toyeyaho:Why are you economical with the Truth? Don't you know he had brush with fayose. And OBJ helped in enthroning fayose as executive governor. Consequently,he fled Nigeria to take teaching job. The wealth he amassed as Governor helped in building a private university in Ghana. This is to the knowledge of Ekiti citizens. So, don't defend him. He is a jumbo jet Thief! |

It's life won't remain the same again by the time you come back yet, oyebanji will be telling you sweet fake things about the state. When last did you visit the state?. I was there btw 17th and 22nd October. I love Nigeria more than many of you think. Propaganda doesn't make a nation rather, it mars her |

RZArecta:The ide- Osun people are merely looking at the domino effect of the airport in the long run. Some of the benefit stems from jobs creation to springing up of hotels outside the corridor of the airport. But my issue is, given how Osun is, will the said airport be viable in terms of having the required traffic? |
