That is exactly where he will have issues, most especially if he is trying to apply for a student visa. Just do affidavit jeje and keep

Hello! Please I need advice. My name on my birth certificate and other documents is James Chika Johnson. James is my first name, Chika my second and Johnson my last name.

When I was registering for the JAMB UTME exams, a mistake was made in the order of my name and Chika was my first name and James my middle. I was like 16 then, and I didn't think it would matter.

Now, because JAMB would send the same name format to the schools during admission and all, I've been like that all these years.

I just received my certificate yesterday, and it bears Chika as my first name and James as my last.

My National ID card, Voters card and all other documents, including my SSCE results are James as my first and Chika as my last name.

This has never been a problem for me. In fact, during our Certificate Verification at school, the council did not bring up any issue because my name in the school was Chika James Johnson, but on my SSCE certificate was James Chika Johnson.

On the school notice board, there was a note that the Student would bear all responsibility for any error once they leave the issuing room if they don't point it out there. But this is not technically an error because I've been going through my university education with this name order. All my tests, exams, and registrations in school.

Please will this affect me later? Like during NYSC registration or something? What can I do?
Why is ur surname Johnson 🤔
Where are u from?

So what's the approach for rectifying spelling errors?
To rectify spelling errors, go to the organisation that made the error and lodge a complaint about the error. If they can't rectify it, ask for their advice, don't just go to court to do affidavit for spelling errors, it won't shock if some places don't reckon with whatever court affidavit you're holding

It can affect you in the future because if you contest election and win, APC can take you to court and challenge your victory and say your certificates are bearing different names

Get an affidavit NOW and keep it in your file. Don't wait till the need arises.Newly sworn affidavit may not be honoured.

You both have different issues. Yours is missing name, his issue is name arrangement. No one will query you for name arrangements.
If for instance the issue was missing name (ie the name in JAMB, SSCE and BSc are Okoye Chris but name in the Bank, NIN and Voter card is Okoye Christopher Nkemdili but the person has sworn an affidavit linking both names to the same person) what will the person have to do or what documents will he have to present if he wants to leave the country

In my case, birth certificate and LG Certificate of Origin carries Olusola as first name but all other documents carry Olushola.

Also no middle name in NIN and International Passport. Is this also an issue.

How do you advise to rectify these.

This is not true.

It is only when there is a spelling that it might be an issue. But, name re-arrangment does not matter so far all the names appear in all your documents.

. Two individuals are in your picture. 1. James Chica Johnson 2. Chica James Johnson

The no 2 is the person in the university .The no 1 did not go to any university .
Your NYSC letter will come with Chica James Johnson .
I will be factual with you.Yiu are too tardy on this matter. How could you be bearing a wrong name order throught university?
In fact like other persons I am suspecting you for a foul play.
If this is indeed a mistake as you want us to believe which I am still doubting , it will affect you because people will still ask you questions on it always . You are hereby advised to make an avidivat on this.Yet be prepared to answer questions on your double identity. Don't change any name ; just make an affidavit claiming the naming mistake was at the JAMB registration point .
I still doubt your story anyway.
Like I said, I was 16 then and I thought it didn't matter. I didn't tell anybody because I thought it was not an issue.
In my school, there's this certificate verification they do where you submit your original JAMB and SSCE results to the council for verification. My JAMB bears my middle name as my first name, while my SSCE is the normal first name, middle and surname arrangement. Since they did not flag it there, I didn't think it would matter. Like, they could have asked me to swear an affidavit, but they didn't.

Within Nigeria, it will not affect you. But once you want to do anything abroad with those certificates, it will affect you.

Go and get a National Population Commission Birth Certificate. Oyibos don't honour Sworn Affidavit. Forget all these Court affidavit

I have a similar issue with my names. Some certificates have "chukwu" added to it while others has just the name without "chukwu". Mine affected when I was looking for admission abroad, it was the NPC birth certificate that solved it.
In other words I should do a new birth certificate with the new name arrangement?

Are you still a student after you've graduated
I just finished my clearance this week and collected my certificate. I have finished since March but my department released the graduation list in mid-November.

I actually plan on going abroad. Sha... I'll do the affidavit just in case. I hope it doesn't affect me during NYSC registrations.

Go to your admin in school and ask if they can change it to reflect your old details. Because your bvn, nin and other documents are different from this, in my opinion, it is better to change your school cert to feature what you've been using since. So, go to your school admin and tell them they made a mistake on the name arrangement, if they refuse, ask them if maybe they have like an official written note that you can always submit alongside the cert. Afterall, anybody wey doubt weda na you be that, you can always ask them to verify from the school.

. Go and make an affidavit to capture the mistake JAMB made and that you are the owner of your school documents .
Good luck!

Hello! Please I need advice.
Not sure this can affect you. At worst, you get an affidavit that Chika James Johnson and James Chika Johnson represent one and the same person.

Carry on with your life.... Anywhere you are to fill a form and you are given space for SURNAME always ensure you write your surname there... That's all that matters.
Why are you misleading this guy.

It's not rocket science, we all know that this will sure have a negative effect.

When your names are not in correct order, the best time to correct it is now!

Young man,

Don't let nobody deceive you that I do not have an effect. Go to court and do a proper change of name and indicate that all former documents remain valid.

So that, when tomorrow something valuable comes for you, nobody would have the gut to tell you that your name in a particular document is different from your current name because the surname in one is different from the other. We have seen it happen in politics many times.

Don't be deceived and delay can be dangerous.

Peace!

Exactly, but let it be from National Population Commission

@OP.. What you mentioned above can not affect you in any way. The only thing can affect you is wrong spelling (like writing JHIKA instead of CHIKA, etc) or using initials eg CHIKA J. Johnson and full name in other documents

My O'LEVEL Certificates (WAEC and NECO) bear a different name arrangement from my Uni certificate. ie instead of ABC it was BCA, just like you, I went to do affidavit in court (they called it name reconciliation) but I haven't used it till date. Anytime I present it, they'd say I don't need it.

So you're fine bro.

But if you're having a doubting mind, you can go do name reconciliation affidavit and present it should you need it.
Please the first and middle on my NIN where switched in my School document.I was told i needed to correct the NIN(for NYSC registr. But if i alter the NIN name, won’t it affect my Bank?Because my BVN and NIN name is the same arrangement. Please what do i do.
