A lot of unnecessary paperwork for renewals! I have not seen where to renew a passport, you need to submit all the documents you submitted when you applied for the passport!

It is a bloody waste of time.

To renew my alternate passport, I fill a form with my basic information, post it and my passport is posted to my doorstep in Nigeria. No capture, no biometrics, no collection of irrelevant information

It's because they have those records of yours through your activities with the line.
So they want to confirm those records.

That's foolishness. There is an extent to which they should confirm information.

Thats not true, once your nin is attached your sim gets replaced immediately. It is if you had visited a road side vendor to buy the sim intially or to attach nin with street vendor,then you will have such issues.

I have bought a sim in an MTN office once. When it got lost, the same place asked me for affidavit and police report. I ended up paying road side sim sellers up to 3k just to get it replaced without going through the rigor of visiting the court and the police station.

To say that the country is foolish is just ascertaining the reality. It is not a curse. It is like saying that a dwarf is a dwarf or a wise man is a wise man and you take it for a curse. Is that what your Literacy teacher taught you in school?

Has for me both airtel and etisalat was replaced without any ceremony. Only paid for the sim .

Where did you retrieve it? I their offices or from a sim seller near the road? If it is in their offices, they will demand all those irrelevant things.

I don't even remember where my sim pack is All i know after linking my nin to my sim successfully. I walk into their office and replace my sim. The only thing is you fill form, with the necessary information, number, nin and last three numbers called frequently. With cost of the replacement sim. That is all.
