Trump withdrew American support for all Kurdish rebels (YPG/SDF/PKK) in Syria as POTUS 45. Their alliances haven't been clear cut ever since.

At the moment, they must back Assad because they face an existential threat in the hands of Turkish/US/Israel backed HTS (ISIS) terrorists who are trying to overrun the SAA and topple Assad.

If the terrorists succeed, Erdogan will ensure the complete extermination of the Kurdish groups.
