This is serious. The Deputy Senate President is not just a Senator but a leader of the North. The Northern Youth Assembly is made up of the youth of the 19 Northern states and they have spoken. I hope the leadership of the North will take this seriously.

May God bless Nigeria for ever!

North would be the ultimate beneficiary of this Tax Laws

Before selling you Farm Product outside your State, put your VAT and make sure ist remitted in your state.

True, they aren't VATable but they can find a way around it. That's where the processing comes in.

You don't VAT my Cocoa but not beverages and Chocolate

My Cotton is not VATABLE but the Cloth is VATable. I will process my cotton to Textile

My Groundnut is not VATable but the vegetable oil is VATable

My Tomatoes are not VATable but the Tomatoe paste are VATable. I would start Tomatoe processing company.

What happens to Transfer Procing agreement with processing companies in other states, that is direct share of profits.

If Agricultural and Mineral resources is what the North has, they have to build their economy around it.

It's not in Nigeria interest to underdevelop anywhere in it
Thank you so much for this.

Yet another reason for not leaving Nairaland to those Obidients who can only insult and abuse.

These are nuggets of knowledge that we need on here.

Thanks once more

Food is even VAT exempt, the problem is the businesses aren't formal where their income for the year can be traced and taxed as part of corporate income tax as well as employees income tax.

Something is definitely wrong for a place like Kano that is tuoted to have same population as Lagos and even more not having up to 50% of employee tax when compared to some other states that is not Lagos. Are there no businesses there employing people? No, they only have the mindset that even if they don't work there is federal allocation to be shared from the resources of others...There are lots of ways government make money but they ain't ready to explore those means because of fre money, it's time to make them work for their money.
Fair point.

It’s nothing new .
But before you do that, ask the eldest clown in your family about your similar misadventures in the 1st republic and how it ended for your forebears 😂😂.
This is big 2024 Emeka.
Tinubu is a grand chess master . Next is to increase the meager 13 percent derivation for the NigerDelta.

We would isolate the parasites for the world to see !

This tax will Favour the North more...
This is what Kalu Aja mentioned:

Dear North and Middle Belt

Respectfully, if the new tax bill is passed,

You have the advantage of a lower labour cost

You have the advantage of solar power

You have potentially the largest source of power from a single point, and that's tbe Hydro dam in Taraba

You have the land for mechanised agriculture

You have the advantage of freshwater rivers, with fish

You have gold

You have uranium for nuclear power

You have silca for solar panels

You have cobolt for EVs

You have iron ore for steel

You have hides and skin

Why, in God's name, are you dragging consumption tax with Lagos and Rivers?

When was Kano a centre of Commerce? What about Borno?

Your leaders are looking through a straw and telling you the world is small

What was Sir Ahmadu Bellos' Vision for the North? Did it include oil? Did it include VAT?

Was the North not the most significant contributor to FX earnings to Nigeria from the Western, Eastern, and Northern Regions, from just Groundnut?

Leave Crude oil for Bayela, go and redevelop Groundnut oil

Who are you to speak on the helm of affairs? Lagos is budgeting trillions, Sanwo Olu flaunts a wristwatch of ₦200 million while Lagosians are trapped in slums and grinding poverty. Meanwhile, Tinubu continues to amass obscene wealth at the expense of the people. Your so called new sheriff is an incompetent fool with no direction. He removed fuel subsidies and floated the naira, plunging Nigerians north including south into unbearable suffering.
He claimed that the Port Harcourt refinery is operational which turns out nothing but propaganda designed to mock people like u. This disastrous tax policy isn’t just devastating the north it will ravage southern states, including the parasitic southestern and impoverished Ekiti state. This government’s is reckless and curse, these charlatans enriching themselves while the nation crumbles.

This Bill has exposed them , a typical northerner doesn't pay tax, they depend on tax coming from Lagos , Porthacourt, Delta e.t.c to be shared with them according to their fake numbers of local governments,

This tax bill will be passed

We will pass the Bills, even if Heaven falls.

Even if no single Senator from the North and South supports the Bill, we will still pass it. Once SP Godswill Akpabio says “those in support say Aye”, if no single person says “Aye”, then silence means acceptance and consent, then the Ayes have it. If you like bring out guns on the floor of the House, once Godswill Akpabio pronounce God’s Will, it becomes LAW. Ogun kee una Mama.

Instead of bringing together your best brains to scrutinise the Bills and see how you can propose adjustments and modifications that will favour you, and if all you have in your states are serial killers, you can employ Consultants from any part of the world to help you scrutinise the Bills. Once you don’t do that, but you think you have any means of stopping the Bills, then you are damn for life, because we will pass the four Bills even if no single Senator besides the SP supports it.

You don’t know the new Sheriff in town, he is the head of the Mafias, so no kindergarten cabal can stop him, he is the god of Politics and Strategy, he is Emilokan Asiwaju Jagaban Omo Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, won n le l’eyin, oun le ara iwaju

The evil tax bill will not benefit anybody either south or north. Only Tinubu and his team of armed robbers will benefit from this bill the way they benefited from subsidy removal.

They actually do as it benefits them but they don't want to be left behind, which makes sense.

The problem is mainly Northern politicians who need their people to be poor and illiterate in order to use them for their greedy means.

You heard Trump say he loves the uneducated, it's not a Nigerian thing.

There is no VAT on agricultural produce and food. They are just objecting without knowing.

Even businesses under 20million are not taxable what percentage of persons run businesses over 20m
It’s not even 20m but 50m. Honestly it is difficult for anyone to read the content of this bill and oppose it without exposing an ulterior motive. That’s why Ndume and Zulu came on Tv and looked like foools. Zulum even had to lie on live Tv with his example about First bank.

If the government won't tax the food the northerners produce then how are they supposed to benefit from the tax reforms?
That's because almost everything is subsided over there.

From grants to fertilizer, to seeds.

The local government receives income in produce just like every other state.

They don't tax them that's the issue, typically farm produce are taxed the minimum because it's a critical sector. Government even provide subsides to drive down food prices in developed climes.

The north has been too parasitic for too long, ask them the contributions they made as regards to the federation account they are sharing every month you will find a negligible contribution not to talk of VAT and other issues.

Imagine them taking VAT on alcohol how? When they break and destroy alcohol sold in their region and still want the tax from the alcohol funny people
But they can keep paying taxes to book haram so they could plant, harvest and even sell their produce.....they want development but don't want to pay for it.....if the population you are claiming to have is truly so,you should be happy consumption tax is coming to you......there are more hotels in oshodi Isolo LGA alone than the entire kebbi state,do you then expect revellers who partrinise those businesses spending billions monthly to be paying taxes so you can be sharing when you don't encourage such businesses to be established in your zone.

Nigeria is a common wealth that has to benefit all ethnicity.

What are you trying to tell us here- explain it in a simple language!
Yet,Bokoharam-Insurgency, Kidnappings ,Cross Borders Criminality, etc Should be a serious matter of Concern to the Northern Youths - than listening to their Politicians, who enjoys Free Money From the Southern Business,Oil Money, etc.
The Northern Youths are being deceived, because lack of support will hunt the Northerners in a long term - as they won't be able to help their States to Develop Economically.
Deception by Northern Leaders to their Youths -is the Worst Disease of the Century in Nigeria,e g for Governor -Zulum to say that ' Only Lagos will benefits in this Tax issues - is a Big Fat Like- Deception!
•How Have the Northern Governors been Spending the Quarterly( every 4- Months NBILLIONS) each State have been Receiving from the Federation Accounts?
•Is the Humongous Money For the Personal Accounts of the Governors?
•Why are these Youths being Used and insensitive -to the Economic Development of their States?
