NothingDoMe:Processing!! The grains used in making the alcohol the south consumes is from the north.....it can be processed over there and taxed at best let the brewery be sited there too......if you don't want consumption of alcohol, create free zones where people who want to consume can go to so as to encourage consumption there by earning more taxes in consumption. Leather is made from cows which everyone knows the north has an advantage of.....start processing your hide and skins.....Benue state has mangoes and oranges in abundance, you pay vat if you want to drink juice and they can start processing themselves. |

The Tax bill is over 400 pages long. 99% of those who have assented to it haven't even read it. If the lawmakers haven't even read it, one wonders how many of the resident Nairaland APC urch..s have read it? But check out the strenuous efforts here to defend it. Ask the urch..s which other Tinubu policy has led to a better life, that we should be fooled into believing that the Tax Bill will do so? Not a single effort has been put into SME's which are the engine room of any economy but the urch..s are fine with that! What catapulted US and China economically was the rise of their SME's first and not a focus on tax when the economy was grounded. Interestingly enough, it was the resistance to excessive taxation that led the American colonialists to decide to break away from England and go to war. So if the North wants to fight war because of Taxes, they will not be the first to do so. Once again, economic growth does not happen by playing around with increased tax policy while ignoring businesses crashing due to excessive inflation. One ignoramus above even said that how many business generate over N20m a year to be liable for tax? In a country where an 11yr old Camry costs N13 - N14M. Is that person not daft and poverty stricken? There are salary earners who earn much more than that Mtschew |

I like the bill even though I don't like Tinubu personally. Let every state wake up and start generating and controlling their resources. If Tinubu can pass this bill, then make elections transparent, this will open the nyash of non-performancing governor and their state people will vote them out. Gradually everyone will answer his papa name. |

Bluntemperor:Thanks for raising the matter of oil money. Why should the oil revenue be shared differently from the proposed basis for sharing VAT in this reform bill ![]() Why should farmers and ranchers own their products that are possible because of the soil nutrients, but Niger Delta land owners don't have the right to the oil under their feet? |

I'm beginning to align with those who are pushing for the separation of this entity called Nigeria. My state, Edo is even big enough to be a country, after all, Estonia, Moldova, Mauritius, Cape Verde, etc are not up to the population of my state. Enough of this nonsense from these useless amajiri people. You destroy your region with Boko haram, banditry, herdsmen and you want to continue to reap from where you are not sowing. NONSENSE. |

ebukal67x:From the excerpts of the bill I've seen, only Lagos, FCT, Rivers and Ogun state will benefit from it due to Lagos being former capital and having the only fully functional seaport in Nigeria; Ogun state due to its proximity to Lagos, FCT being the current capital and Rivers due to the Onne port and oil companies presence. Saying states will get 50% of the VAT they accrue will only throw most of the other states into bankruptcy in a few years. It will be rather interesting to see how this bill drama unfolds. |
