We will pass the Bills, even if Heaven falls.

Even if no single Senator from the North and South supports the Bill, we will still pass it. Once SP Godswill Akpabio says “those in support say Aye”, if no single person says “Aye”, then silence means acceptance and consent, then the Ayes have it. If you like bring out guns on the floor of the House, once Godswill Akpabio pronounce God’s Will, it becomes LAW. Ogun kee una Mama.

Instead of bringing together your best brains to scrutinise the Bills and see how you can propose adjustments and modifications that will favour you, and if all you have in your states are serial killers, you can employ Consultants from any part of the world to help you scrutinise the Bills. Once you don’t do that, but you think you have any means of stopping the Bills, then you are damn for life, because we will pass the four Bills even if no single Senator besides the SP supports it.

How can my state generate revenue when the environment is not conducive to business due to Tinubus retrogressive policies. there is huge disparity in electricity access across the country. lagos and ekiti state enjoy nearly 99% access, while northern states like Taraba and yobe receive less than 10%. Even a major state like Kano struggles with less than 50% meager electricity access. So tell me, how can the North establish industries and generate revenue under such conditions?
I don't know what you are saying but I know Ekiti East have not seen light for over 10years now. They live on small small solar panel. Maybe the 99% access to electricity is on paper. Don't forget Kogi state like Lokoja n other part of the state I've been to enjoy nothing short of 16hrs electricity daily

If the government won't tax the food the northerners produce then how are they supposed to benefit from the tax reforms?
Processing!! The grains used in making the alcohol the south consumes is from the north.....it can be processed over there and taxed at best let the brewery be sited there too......if you don't want consumption of alcohol, create free zones where people who want to consume can go to so as to encourage consumption there by earning more taxes in consumption.

Leather is made from cows which everyone knows the north has an advantage of.....start processing your hide and skins.....Benue state has mangoes and oranges in abundance, you pay vat if you want to drink juice and they can start processing themselves.

Where Are The Cows? Is Evans A Herdsman?'

When Funke Olakurin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti was murdered instead of Bola Tinubu to make sure that the perpetrators were brought to book, he ended up making fun of the death of the young lady by turning everything into tribalism by showing his hates for Igbos.

Tinubu has never spoken against the deadly activities of Fulani herdsmen across the country

Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.

Those arrested suspects include Lawal Mazaje, 40, from Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada area of Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela area of Sokoto State and Auwal Abubakar, 25, from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State....

However, the leader of the team, identified only as Tambaya, and three others are yet to be found.

Tambaya has been declared wanted by the police and he is said to be capable of communicating in Hausa, Fulfude and Pidgin English.

Food is even VAT exempt, the problem is the businesses aren't formal where their income for the year can be traced and taxed as part of corporate income tax as well as employees income tax.

Something is definitely wrong for a place like Kano that is tuoted to have same population as Lagos and even more not having up to 50% of employee tax when compared to some other states that is not Lagos. Are there no businesses there employing people? No, they only have the mindset that even if they don't work there is federal allocation to be shared from the resources of others...There are lots of ways government make money but they ain't ready to explore those means because of fre money, it's time to make them work for their money.
Kano has the most number of LGA in the country,44 in total but generated 0% revenue from them in 2023.

FashoFashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'

Jul 11, 2014.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.

According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.

"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.

Re: Tinubu Tax: North’s Anger Grows As Youths Attack Deputy Senate President by VULCAN(m):
The Tax bill is over 400 pages long.

99% of those who have assented to it haven't even read it.

If the lawmakers haven't even read it, one wonders how many of the resident Nairaland APC urch..s have read it?

But check out the strenuous efforts here to defend it.

Ask the urch..s which other Tinubu policy has led to a better life, that we should be fooled into believing that the Tax Bill will do so?

Not a single effort has been put into SME's which are the engine room of any economy but the urch..s are fine with that!

What catapulted US and China economically was the rise of their SME's first and not a focus on tax when the economy was grounded.

Interestingly enough, it was the resistance to excessive taxation that led the American colonialists to decide to break away from England and go to war.

So if the North wants to fight war because of Taxes, they will not be the first to do so.

Once again, economic growth does not happen by playing around with increased tax policy while ignoring businesses crashing due to excessive inflation.

One ignoramus above even said that how many business generate over N20m a year to be liable for tax?

In a country where an 11yr old Camry costs N13 - N14M. Is that person not daft and poverty stricken?

There are salary earners who earn much more than that

Thanks for raising the matter of oil money.

Why should the oil revenue be shared differently from the proposed basis for sharing VAT in this reform billhuh

Why should farmers and ranchers own their products that are possible because of the soil nutrients, but Niger Delta land owners don't have the right to the oil under their feet?

From the excerpts of the bill I've seen, only Lagos, FCT, Rivers and Ogun state will benefit from it due to Lagos being former capital and having the only fully functional seaport in Nigeria; Ogun state due to its proximity to Lagos, FCT being the current capital and Rivers due to the Onne port and oil companies presence.

Saying states will get 50% of the VAT they accrue will only throw most of the other states into bankruptcy in a few years.

It will be rather interesting to see how this bill drama unfolds.
