Olusegun said the same tax reform being undertaken by Tinubu was part of Kwankwaso’s manifesto in 2023.

Posting on X, Olusegun wrote: “Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso in his 2023 campaign manifesto vowed to do this exact tax reforms that he is today opposing vehemently.

“Let him or his people deny it. The manifesto is in public domain for those who don’t believe.”

But on Monday, Kwankwaso urged President Bola Tinubu to reconsider his stance on the Tax Reform Bills in the interest of Nigerians.

The former Kano State governor said it’s not the right time for Tinubu to propose the bills.

The four tax reform bills- the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024, the Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill, are currently before both chambers of the National Assembly for passage.

The bills have been tagged as anti-North and that it would only benefit Lagos and Rivers State.

However, Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga dismissed such claims, saying the bills would “enhance the quality of life for Nigerians, especially the disadvantaged, who are trying to make a living.”

What we are seeing is the demonstration that they would not have had the balls to do it and we would be ina deeper mess because they would continue to borrow to pay subsidy.

In Nigeria if you consult, nothing will get done. It took 20 years to pass the petroleum industry bill during which investment suffered and oil companies exited.

That is why Jagaban is cut from a different cloth. It takes a man who doesn’t care about reelection to build a lasting legacy for the next generation. That is why you will not see any lasting legacy for Obi’s 8 yrs in Anambra!

Obi has not even shown that he has the capacity to think of something this bold, what he would have been very good at doing will be to attend as many burial ceremonies in the country rather than the actual work of leadership.
