Well, I have not experienced how Pakistanis live in the UK, but I am intrigued by the "influence or perceived influence" that they have in the country. It could be cultural - "ease of becoming aggressive when need be?" Could the difference between blacks in the UK and the US be the history and the fact that the majority of blacks in the US are African Americans - so they share the same history of fighting the system? Whereas there are varying black groups in the UK - so no shared history.

But when you say "whack rich Pakistani men", in what context please? I am trying to imagine the same done against rich black men here or in China to compare and contrast.

Living in the West is like denying oneself from the rich, human experience. Something is missing and you know it. The thing that's missing is beyond your ability to restore. You can only coexist with the lack, or log out from that system.

The coldness in the general attitude of people, lack of genuine connection, you always feel judged, or in the words of WEB DU BOIS, having "double consciousness".

Double consciousness is how for example, I know myself to be a responsible man, I won't hurt another human, I'll take care of my family, I pay my tax and employ others that pays theirs, I'll defend my family and just do right.

In Nigeria, such traits makes me a good citizen. People would want to be my friend and I'll be an ideal man for a good woman. But in the West? Those traits are not what I'll be judged with.

I'll be seen as a black, lucky immigrants that escaped from the jungle, not truly belonging here, tolerated, not worthy to develop deep friendship with because the friendship can be a burden on them.

I look around and see my kinmen doing the most dirtiest job, filling their prison per capita, and the news always broadcast restricting immigration so other Africans won't escape like me. Me being wealthy is a shock, because I'm supposed not to. I should just be okay at best.

I'll always have the fear that my job application or house search was rejected because I'm black, that the girl rejected me (even black women) because she also sees me through the lenses of white society, even though she suffers from it too. Etc etc etc.

So I get it. Being wealthy can't make you escape this as a black person. And if a black person have self respect, moving to a place he knows his dignity is preserved, he is the default, and his competence appreciated will be the ultimate goal.

In my view, the only thing the West offers is material satisfaction. You'll just be wealthy and that's just it. But the true, rich, human experience, where your dignity is preserved and you have true power, will be missing.

So living with this burden of double consciousness, where I am first conscious of my worth as a person, but still conscious of how my society view me, is sickness of the mind. That's not good life. If one choose to live in the West permanently, then he/she have accepted to bear this burden.

quite aptly put except the part where you said all the west has to offer is you will just be wealthy. Maybe in America but there is no wealth in Europe or Canada. Where do you see the wealth ? Even their prime ministers salary is not considered wealthy. Someone like kemi badenock who is leader of conservatives will be on like 150k a year and higher tax bracket they take half of it so she has like 80 k take home. When they take council tax and rent and other bills she is just as poor as the masses and this is the head of one of their parties. So which wealth do you speak of ?
